In a world where everything seems perfectly logical and pragmatic. The thought of anything existing outside of the realm of what one already knows seems impractical.
That is how Melinda Morrison sees life.

"Ahh! Now you two both look like officially Cluyzian noble ladies." Auntie Thaleia giggled ferociously as she looked between Chandrelle and me dressed in the culturally-appropriate attire of high-born ladies of the great Mageocrazy of Cluyze.
"Feris, doesn't this just remind you of your childhood? It's befitting of their beauty, don't you think?" Auntie asked mother as she adjusted the sheer material on my shoulder delicately placing it so it stays just right on my body.

"Hm?" Mother placed a hand under her chin as she observed us with a patient eye. Slowly I watched as a soft smile crept onto her face, "Why they do... it's been so long since I've even worn some of our clothing and to see it on my children... it is a sight to see." She said warmly.
This was probably the least critical she had been of me since I existed. I guess nostalgia could tame even the censorious of mothers.
Today was the day our family was leaving for our native country. It was the same reason, Aunt Thaleia thought it a good idea for us to change the style of our clothing even if we weren't going to reach the empire for another several days. We would be boarding very shortly so it was best to get comfortable wearing the garments on the ship. It was the first time we were trying on the gifted articles of clothing and silks she and Uncle Persill had brought with them in hordes when they first came to Vesneau.
Now that both uncle and auntie had spent a couple of weeks up at Bria to see grandmother and grandfather again, they had finally come back down to the city and spent the remaining days with us in our company before it was time for them to leave. It shocked me to realize that they had nearly spent over a month with us already, but auntie and uncle were such good company it hardly felt as if anytime had passed at all.
I was surprised myself when they declared their departure date and that we would be joining them as well. After that heated conversation between them and our parents, I thought I wouldn't hear of the topic of being sent to Cluyze to permanently live with my aunt and cousins, but it seems that they had reached some sort of agreement; whatever it was I had no idea, but auntie had convinced father to let us go to Cluyze for a month or so to experience at least once, our lineage's background.
Chandrelle and I were extremely excited. After being stuck in this side of the country since we first reincarnated, it got old quickly—mostly because we stayed around the city and at the very least, Bria with our grandparents, we wanted to see something different and this was our opportunity!
What even made this deal sweeter was that Lehamo was not going to be joining us on the trip. After the whole incident of killing the raven mercilessly, to my surprise, Chandrelle was the first to snitch on him to his mother and father. I guess seeing one of our animals under so much stress was one of those boundaries she did not respect to be crossed.
