Through the astral bodies, a story is told.
"I don't understand, how can this be?" I uttered, my voice trembling with a mixture of awe and confusion.
"How is it that you are in front of us right now?" Lavania added her words echoing my sentiments.
I reached out and gently cradled Lúnar's hair, tracing the coils and kinks of her inky-plum-colored tresses. It was the same shade that only members of the Da Plarinu family possessed, a lineage that hailed from their first descendant, the Supreme Mage Chryseis. This couldn't be a mere coincidence.
And upon closer examination, I noticed that the shade of her eyes bore a striking resemblance to mine, to a point where it was uncanny. My mother and I were the only ones in the family with this unique eye color, though it was relatively common in the Krar Empire. Now, Lúnar sat before us, a living amalgamation of both Mellie and me, as if we had somehow created her ourselves.
She was undeniably beautiful, and as I looked at her, I felt a deep, unshakable connection. It tugged at my heart, an overwhelming sense of love and longing. She was mine, ours, and I simply couldn't believe Mellie and I had shared a child in a past life; this reunion filled me with emotions too profound for mere words. I wanted to hug her tightly, to convey the depth of my love, to promise her unwavering protection. I felt that I would protect her with every fiber of my being until my last breath.
But amidst this profound reunion, I still yearned for answers. As much as I could set aside the complexities of our own reincarnation, the magic, and the monsters, this enigma stood before us as an unsolved puzzle.
"Anjicap (mother in Köy), Qäfo (father), you look so sad," Lúnar said, her voice small and uncertain, her gaze shifting between Lavania and me, her curiosity mirroring ours.
"Lúnar, we want to know what happened to you," Mellie began, her voice steady but filled with urgency, "How did you end up in this child's body, and why does it seem like this is your true form?"
I nodded in agreement with Mellie's inquiries. "Our lives ended over three hundred years ago. It's impossible for someone to remain alive for that long, even with mana and divinity in their body."
Lúnar shook her head as if trying to find the right words. "Mama, Pappa," She started, her voice wavering, "After you went away... there was a big crash, and I... I didn't remember who I was."
The memories of that carriage accident resurfaced in my mind with striking clarity. I remembered the suspension in the air, the inevitable plummet that followed, and the desperate attempt to protect Lúnar, Tahmina, and our unborn child.
As I contemplated this, I realized the eerie parallels between that crash and the one Mellie and I had experienced on Earth. Both were unforeseen and fatal, leading to our deaths. Furthermore, Mellie had recently disclosed her belief that she was pregnant with our child on Earth, mirroring the fact that Tahmina had been pregnant with our second child during our previous life. It was almost as if some unexplained force was at play, orchestrating these uncanny similarities.
