In a world where everything seems perfectly logical and pragmatic. The thought of anything existing outside of the realm of what one already knows seems impractical.
That is how Melinda Morrison sees life.

From my world to yours, with love, I find the missing piece.
"The King and Queen of Vesneau are entering!"
Entering the bed chambers of the former king of Vesneau was rather depressing, to say the least; it was not one of the first things we wanted to do after coming out of a heated council meeting. The goal of course was to regroup with our team and figure out our plan moving forward then later on go see the kids who had come all the way down from Kladena to visit us.
Not watch a sinister man take his last breaths on Aikean.
I had no relationship with Maurus, I had no desire to. Once Andrew had explained to me how much of a neglectful and abusive man he was, I steered clear of him as best as I could.
The room itself seemed filled with a few individuals who had gotten the memo of the king's declining health, one of them being Misi who stood off to the side of the bed with crossed arms and a stoic expression as if she had dealt with this enough times to not care. I mean I couldn't blame her for feeling that way, the king had pretty much taken any piece of advice she gave him to preserve his health and shat on it which was why he was in this position, to begin with. She had no compassion for anyone unwilling to take their health seriously.
The others in the room consisted of former Queen Kelena, Princess Latona-Rune, Chancellor Kayd, Prince Enos, and his mother Viatrix. A couple of knights stood guard as they had been observing him pending the day of his exile, but it seems he would never come onto his two feet to make way for the icy tundra where the remainder of his time would be spent.
What a shame.

Kiraz and I approached the bed alongside Tychon who was the first to make it to Maurus, creeping against his frail and unmoving figure with stealth.
"Uncle... open your eyes for a moment will you." He called to him.
Maurus's breathing was labored as if he were struggling to breathe as it is but opened upon the sound of his nephew's voice.
Slowly they gathered around his surroundings before they landed right into the same firey orange eyes the family of Vetmus carried for generations. Tychon smiled warmly, "There you are... I was afraid I was going to miss out on the best part of the day, seeing you die." If someone were deaf, they would have assumed that Tychon was providing the sick king with comforting words on his journey to the other world, but in fact, they were laced with resentment and pity; the words he's always meant to say to him, but never got the opportunity to.
Maurus could barely muster up any words to reply to him and stayed focused as Tychon continued speaking.
"Here you lay now on your death bed unable to serve out the sentence you've been given for your crimes. I guess you can consider yourself lucky that even as a royal you were spared the humiliation of being sent to the Ice Tower for punishment." Tychon clucked his tongue, "You took both my father and mother away from me before I had a chance to process it all because you were greedy. I wish I could say that this death is suitable for a person like you, but it isn't enough for me. Pathetic it is for the nature of your existence, but it will never outweigh the damage you have caused to this family or this entire kingdom."
