Turn the tables and face the oppressor head-on.

"Your highness, you aren't really asking us to fight it on the field to prove our worth, are you?"

"I don't like to repeat my words, Lord Alvis. If your family's preferred technique of combat is the superior version in comparison to the Barony of Vlore, it should be no issue to prove such a fact in front of all of us, if I'm not mistaken?"

A brisk whistle of cold breeze flashed through the air in a quick sweep, causing the capes of our military uniforms to gather at the backs of where we all stood, whipping in the air as a solemn flag jammed into the ground of an unclaimed territory as we all awaited Lord Alvis of the Da Eervungs family to respond to the crown prince.

Most people who had witnessed the earlier verbal altercation between Commander Dione's children and Grand Duke Ler's spawns were now all eager to see the small showdown persevere between the individuals, a well-needed break from the loss in morale that the soldiers from the failed Trester mission had brought upon the camp a couple of days ago.

I didn't expect the training technique situation to come to a head so soon, but with headstrong individuals such as Lady Adrasteia and Lady Hypatia competing against two hot-headed overly confident brothers, it had to be expected at some point.

Lord Alvis sensing Kiraz's seriousness in expression chuckled, lightening the situation as he noted the expectant eyes now pressing him further after his response, "Shall we not focus on more important matters, such a silly trivial sparring match in the middle of an important battle after Trester was lost once more is far less than ideal." He stated.

"The only thing I'm mistaken about is that Trester was so confidently stated to be reclaimed by many individuals in that tent a few days ago, yet here we are... still recovering dead soldiers from a failed feat," Andrew replied with a dry tone.

I'm sure the past several weeks we had already spent on the outskirts of Eerly have proven to really sour his mood, including the disrespect to many of the women who had volunteered their time and resources to the mission; I felt very proud to see he was asserting his confidence at the prince and future king to the kingdom now as the days went along.

Perhaps, it was the encouragement of his older brother, Tychon who I had seen him emerge with from the tent that had given them that little push but it was endearing, to say the least.

Or maybe because I was beginning to see Andrew in such a powerful position, a king. I had seen him as many things in my life; a young curious and adventurous child, a charming and excitable teen, a dedicated and humble NFL player, then turned into a mature confident businessman, and now finally....

A reigning monarch.

Kiraz was so different from me at times, a stark contrast, sometimes so blatant it was hard to see past it. I wondered if something like us being together could work; a married couple, a king and queen ruling as one to better the ways of a staggering country. This time here in the battlezone was showing me how much more of the world we had yet to be exposed to us, despite our mental maturity, there was much to consider. It left me pondering in my tent late at night when I attempted to fall asleep.
