Condemn with the slam of a gavel and all thought is lost.

The official start of the court presiding against the king and his three accomplices began late into the afternoon as announced by the Chancellor.

Even with the late notice, the courtroom was packed to the brim with city nobles, news reporters from both the noble and commoner publications and even a few curious foreign dignitaries who did not have the opportunity to leave following the conclusion of the marital union between Lavania and me.

"Are all parties present at the current moment?"

"No, Lord Minister, his Majesty the King pleads again for the court to pause any continuing sessions due to his failing health."

"His Majesty has delayed the session for over two days. Such matters with large allegations as treason and conspiracy against the crown are always required by law to be expedited to ensure the safety, credibility, and stability of our kingdom." The first archon replied.

"We are aware and fully understand, Lord Minister." The Chancellor said.

"Then, is there a substitute to stand in for His Majesty... has he provided a defense against these claims?" The third archon inquired.

I watched as Chancellor Kayd sighed deeply, adjusting the spectacles on his face as he gathered his thoughts; I'm sure being in the position of defending the king during a critical time such as this was weighing deeply on his mind.

Especially with the allegations that were out. He faced the dilemma of continuing to do his work and waiting for the verdict to come out and making his decision concerning his support for the only king he worked for his entire life.

The Chancellor cleared his throat and looked up, staring up at the faces of the three archons seated prominently on their chairs, mighty and just as they looked on with unwavering looks of neutrality marking their faces.

The judge's seats were on an elevated platform, made of dark wood, that was large enough to sit the three individuals side by side. The platform was raised several feet off the ground, providing an unobstructed view of the courtroom. Before their grand entrance and sitting arrangements were made, I noted the back of the platform was decorated with intricate carvings depicting scenes of justice and law.
