Jisoo remained huddled in the room, clutching her chest tightly in fear. The unexpected turn of events from spending the night with Haein had left her in a state of chaos. A sudden sound of glass shattering made her flinch, causing her to close her eyes tightly and bury her face in her hands, consumed by deep regret.
Despite her deep-seated animosity towards her sister, Jisoo had never wanted her to discover her relationship with Haein. If the truth were to come out, she had hoped it would be in a more delicate manner, not in this messy and chaotic situation. The memory of her sister's heart-wrenching sobs over Haein had already shattered Jisoo's heart.
Outside the room, the air was filled with screams, shouts, and cries, creating a cacophony of chaos. Haein had taken Goeun to the living room earlier and closed the door to shield Jisoo from the scene unfolding outside.
"I have to get out of here fast," Jisoo murmured to herself as she wiped her eyes, steeling herself for what lay ahead. She carefully reached for the robe and draped it around her body, preparing to make her move. With cautious steps, she approached the door, straining to hear the heated arguments taking place on the other side.
"FUCKING LEAVE, GOEUN! I PROMISED I'D EXPLAIN EVERYTHING ONCE YOU CALMED DOWN! RIGHT NOW, I WON'T TELL YOU A DAMN THING ABOUT HER!" Haein's voice boomed with frustration, his words cutting through the tension in the room. In a fit of anger, Goeun's hand connected with Haein's face in a resounding slap, followed by a forceful shove that sent him staggering backward.
"I HATE YOU, HAEIN... WITH EVERY DAMN FIBER OF MY BEING!! I'LL ENSURE THAT OUR CHILDREN SEE YOU FOR WHO YOU REALLY ARE!!! ONE DAY, THEY'LL JUDGE US BOTH, AND YOU... YOU'LL BE THE ONE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!!"
"I'LL MAKE SURE YOU NEVER LAY EYES ON MY CHILDREN IF YOU DIVORCE ME...!" Goeun spat out in a venomous tone. Haein's eyes widened in shock, a surge of anger unlike anything he had ever felt coursing through him. Gripping her arms tightly, he glared at her with a newfound sense of revulsion.
"ONCE AGAIN, YOU'RE USING MY CHILDREN AS A THREAT... DO YOU REALLY THINK THAT WILL PREVENT ME FROM DIVORCING SOMEONE AS PETTY AND SPOILED AS YOU??"
"DO WHATEVER YOU DAMN WELL PLEASE, BUT IF YOU DARE TO SEEK FULL CUSTODY OF MY CHILDREN, I WILL FIGHT JUST AS HARD FOR FULL CUSTODY TOO!!!"
"THERE'S NO CHANCE I'LL ALLOW YOU TO BE THEIR SOLE GUARDIAN... BECAUSE YOU'D ONLY MAKE THEM AS MISERABLE AS YOU MADE ME!!" Haein's voice rose in defiance. Goeun's laughter erupted uncontrollably as she struggled to break free from his grip.
"Mothers always come out on top... Haein!!! I'll damn well take your children away from you!! And you know what? I'll leave this country too... so you won't have any part in their lives!! YOU FOOL... go ahead and keep messing around with that prostitute, she sure looks the part!" Goeun's spiteful words cut through the air, causing Haein's body to stiffen in shock.
"YOUR THREATS WON'T CHANGE MY MIND ABOUT LEAVING YOU... and go ahead, spew whatever venom you want because in the end, I'm the one with the money... I'll hire the best lawyers, Goeun, and you will lose, mark my words!!" Haein's voice was firm as he forcefully ushered her out of the suite. Goeun's screams echoed like a banshee through the hotel corridors, catching the attention of some employees from Haein's team. Jisoo paused, no longer able to hear the escalating argument from beyond the room.
"It's now or never, I have to get out of here before things get even worse!" Jisoo whispered to herself, determination flashing in her eyes as she flung open the door and stepped out into the hallway. She limped with difficulty, favoring one leg while the other slid awkwardly along the floor, trying to avoid putting pressure on it. With sheer willpower, she made her way to the elevator and urgently pressed the button for her floor.
