Jisoo and Haein were lost in a deep sleep, the morning sun creeping in around 8 AM while they nestled comfortably in bed, wrapped in each other's warmth. Jisoo, dreaming softly, found herself face to face with her father, his smile somber and unsettling, causing a wave of fear to wash over her.
"Abeoji? Abeojiii...?" she murmured quietly in her sleep. Meanwhile, Haein remained completely oblivious, exhausted from the previous night's activities. Suddenly, Jisoo jolted awake, panic gripping her as she gasped for breath, instinctively covering her mouth to stifle her fear.
"What does this mean?" Jisoo wondered, her heart racing.
"Why are you suddenly showing up in my dreams, Abeoji? Is there something you need to tell me?" Her thoughts raced as her eyes widened in confusion.
Glancing at the clock on her nightstand, she felt a wave of disbelief wash over her. It was well past seven, and her baby usually stirred by seven or, at the latest, 7:30 AM. Concerned, Jisoo slowly pushed herself up from the bed and reached for the baby monitor, hoping to check on her little one. As she listened closely, she noticed faint, wheezing sounds coming through the device, sending a chill down her spine.
"Minseok??" she whispered, her voice trembling. A wave of concern crashed over Jisoo's chest. Call it a mother's instinct, but she sensed immediately that something was wrong with her baby. Without another thought, she jumped out of bed and rushed towards his room.
Haein felt the sudden movement beside him but shrugged it off, assuming Jisoo had simply gone to feed Minseok.
When Jisoo reached her baby's room, she hurried to the crib and found her little one nearly asleep. A frown creased her forehead at his unusual stillness as she gently placed her hand on his chest. Her heart dropped when she realized he was barely breathing. Panic surged through her, and she scooped him up, only to be met with a chilling surprise—he felt completely limp and unresponsive in her arms.
Jisoo gasped in horror, desperately trying to rub Minseok's tummy, hoping he was just in a deep sleep, but nothing worked. He remained unresponsive, and that shattered her heart. Overwhelmed, Jisoo sank to the floor, cradling her baby in her arms, her knees pressing against the cold surface as terror filled her eyes.
It was then that Haein was jolted awake by the heart-wrenching sound of her cries.
"Jisoo?"
"JISOO!?" he shouted, bolting toward Minseok's room. As he entered, his gaze fell on a distraught mother, her face a mask of anguish as she wailed for their child.
"What's wrong?!" Haein exclaimed, his voice filled with panic as he dropped to his knees beside her to see Minseok.
"HE IS NOT BREATHING... HE IS NOT BREATHING!!" Jisoo cried out, her voice breaking with desperation.
"MY BABY IS DYING!!" she shouted, tears streaming down her face as fear gripped her heart.

Endless minutes stretched into hours, filled with an unbearable uncertainty. The weight of despair hung heavy in the air, especially after Minseok's near brush with death just a short while ago. Jisoo leaned against the wall, her face buried in her hands, tears streaming silently as she mourned for her child. Just then, Haein returned from getting some coffee and gently approached her.
"Sweetheart... please take this," he said softly, offering her a steaming cup. Jisoo slowly lowered her hands, glancing at the cups in his grasp. She shook her head slightly, the overwhelming emotion still clouding her heart.
"No... I don't want anything!" Jisoo exclaimed, her voice heavy with fatigue as she turned and walked away from him. Haein let out a sigh, feeling a pang of disappointment. He only wanted her to have something to sustain her, especially since she hadn't eaten or drunk anything in hours.
