Haein settled into his desk chair, engaged in a conversation with Seom regarding the company's forthcoming projects. Following his recent health scare, Haein appreciated the proactive steps Seom had taken on his behalf.
Seom had arranged for his personal doctor to attend to Haein's needs, and this brought him a sense of relief. He was especially grateful that the incident remained a secret within the company, particularly from Jisoo. The thought of Jisoo being unaware of his troubles filled Haein with gratitude. After several hours of discussion, Seom finally rose to conclude their meeting.
"I'll catch up with you soon!" Seom said as he prepared to leave. Haein stood up gradually and offered him a small nod.
"Yes, I'll see you next week! I truly appreciate everything you've done for me!" Haein replied, his gaze steady and sincere. Seom returned the sentiment with a warm smile and a slight shake of his head, acknowledging the gratitude.
"It was nothing! I just thought you wouldn't want everyone to know about your health issue. I really recommend you get it checked out soon; you never know what it could be," Seom advised. Haein let out a sigh and moved quickly to the other side of his desk.
"It was just... sheer shock, I suppose! What I learned at that moment was really overwhelming, especially since my blood pressure dropped so suddenly!" he reflected, lost in thought. Seom placed a reassuring hand on Haein's shoulder.
"And that was because of that woman?" he inquired, raising an eyebrow in curiosity. Haein glanced at him, his brows furrowing in response.
"Ow... you saw her?" Haein asked, and Seom nodded in response.
"Yeah... she seems like a very polished woman!" Seom remarked. Haein let out a chuckle and shot Seom a skeptical glance.
"Polished? Please! She's nothing of the sort! It's like she was raised by the most rude people! She's nothing like her daughter! But now I'm starting to wonder if the woman I'm with is truly who I think she is!" Haein admitted, not realizing he was voicing his thoughts aloud. As the realization hit him, he quickly stepped back and began rubbing his forehead, mortified by his own words. Seom couldn't help but smirk at Haein's embarrassment and moved closer.
"It's alright! I won't share anything you've said. But from what you just mentioned, it sounds like you were referring to your wife's mother?" Seom asked. Haein sighed and sank onto the couch.
"Yes, she's the woman who left my office, the one you probably saw," he admitted, leaning back against the cushions. Seom settled into a chair facing Haein.
"Listen, no matter what happens, you need to keep your priorities straight. Forge your own path and don't just go with the flow, because if you do, you might end up regretting it later!" Seom advised, his gaze steady and serious. Haein focused on Seom, absorbing his words, but a sense of disbelief washed over him. It was a feeling that consumed him as he wrestled with the situation at hand.
"Is Jisoo really the woman I believe her to be? Was I just another one of her targets?" he pondered, fixing a stern gaze on Seom's face.
