A few days later
Jisoo lay on her bed, her eyes wide open, fixated on the ceiling above her. Thoughts of her baby Minseok filled her mind, making the entire situation feel almost dreamlike. It was incredible how everything was unfolding in their favor. Once Jeonghun had informed his father that he was willing to assist his younger brother, Haein sprang into action, promptly reaching out to the hospital. He arranged an appointment for the blood donation process, knowing that Jeonghun was prepared to give his blood for Minseok. Haein felt an overwhelming sense of pride. However, they faced a week-long wait before they could secure a spot at the hospital.
Today was finally the day for Jeonghun's series of screenings to determine his health and compatibility with Minseok. After the blood collection, Jisoo and Haein would face a three-week wait for the final results, as the stem cells needed to be harvested and preserved for transplantation.
Jisoo glanced at the clock on the bedside table, noting it was only four in the morning. She squeezed her eyes shut, overwhelmed with anxiety. She longed for the clock to strike six so she could begin getting ready to head to the hospital. Letting out a soft sigh, she gently placed her hands on her small baby bump. Though it was still modest in size, it was clear that her stomach no longer resembled its former flatness. She lovingly caressed the little bump, allowing the warmth of her touch to soothe her as she closed her eyes.
"Please be healthy in there! Grow strong, my baby!" she thought, a small wrinkle appearing on her forehead. Haein stirred in bed and turned towards Jisoo's side, instinctively wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her closer. Her right shoulder brushed against his chest, a gentle reminder of his presence.
"Why are you awake? The alarm hasn't gone off yet!" Haein murmured in his husky morning voice, still keeping his eyes shut. Jisoo nestled her face into his chest, inhaling the comforting scent of his body wash, a refreshing citrus fragrance that filled her with warmth. The embrace wrapped her in a cocoon of safety and love, and she savored every moment of being in his arms. Slowly, she pressed her soft lips against his chest, her warm breath tracing over his broad frame. This tender gesture stirred him awake, and as his eyes fluttered open, a small smile began to spread across his face.
"Baby!" he murmured softly, running his hands gently up and down her spine. Jisoo pulled back slightly to gaze into his eyes, a hint of apology on her lips.
"Sorry if I woke you!" she said, her voice a soft whisper. Haein smiled warmly, brushing his hand against her cheek as he locked his gaze with hers.
"It's okay... but what's keeping you up, love? Are you a bit anxious about going to the hospital?" he asked, his fingers tenderly caressing her face. Jisoo let out a small sigh and nodded, her expression revealing her unease.
"How did you know? Am I that obvious?" she questioned, her wide eyes resembling those of a puppy, which made his heart skip a beat.
"Well, I can see it in your eyes... and I've noticed how restless you've been in bed," Haein replied gently. "That's how I know you've got a lot on your mind." Jisoo offered a faint smile before once again burying her face against his chest.
