Haein's birthday had finally arrived, and she was buzzing with excitement as she set everything up in her home. The food was all prepped, and colorful balloons and flowers adorned every corner. The cake was chilling in the refrigerator, while she donned her best outfit for the special dinner she had planned. This was the most effort she had ever put into celebrating someone, having spent nearly the entire day cooking and baking. Jisoo glanced at the clock, a smile spreading across her face as she realized it was almost time for friends and family to start arriving.
She had reached out to his parents, brother, and a few close friends, including Hanri and Gyosung, as well as other family members. Jisoo was determined to make the birthday celebration unforgettable, knowing he favored a more understated approach over grand displays. She envisioned an intimate gathering that radiated thoughtfulness. Hurrying into the backyard, she deftly hung up twinkling lights, creating a cozy and welcoming ambiance. Stepping back to admire her efforts, her eyes shone with delight at how everything had come together.
"You're going to adore this, baby!" she murmured to herself, her excitement bubbling over.
*ding.........ding....*
Jisoo beamed as she heard the doorbell ring and hurried back inside. When she opened the door, she was greeted by Hanri and Gyosung, both holding presents in their hands.
"Welcome! Please, come in!" she exclaimed joyfully, her excitement palpable. Hanri smiled warmly, immediately stepping in to assist Gyosung, who looked a bit worn out from work but had come for both his boss and, more importantly, for Jisoo.
Just as Jisoo was about to shut the door, someone pushed it back gently from the outside. Startled, she swung the door open again and was delighted to see a group of Haein's friends arriving, ready to join the celebration.
"Jisoo! Right on time, huh?!" he said with a beaming smile as he stepped inside. Jisoo returned the grin and welcomed him in, followed closely by four of his friends. As they filed in, Jisoo rushed to set the food out while Hanri lent a hand.
"Done! Now I just need to wait for his parents and family members! It's strange that they haven't arrived yet," Jisoo said, a note of worry creeping into her voice as she glanced at Hanri.
"Jisooya, maybe you should check on them? Haejun just texted me that Haein is getting a bit impatient and wants to get home!" Hanri suggested to Jisoo. Nodding in agreement, Jisoo hurried to her room. She sat on the bed and began calling every family member, but none of them picked up. Her anxiety began to mount.
"What's going on? Did something happen to them?" she murmured, her worry deepening. Just then, Jisoo received a message from Haein's father. Opening it, she scanned the brief text, and she felt the brightness in her eyes begin to dim as the weight of the news settled in.
"They don't want to come to their son's birthday celebration? What is going on?" Jisoo thought, her mind racing as she read the message repeatedly, trying to make sense of it. Just then, Hanri burst into the room.
