"Much appreciated!" Jisoo expressed to the chauffeur as she exited the car. She proceeded to stride towards the building with her secretary, Suzy, by her side. Together, they made their way to the elevator, but Suzy couldn't help but notice the curious glances of everyone around them. It seemed like they were being viewed as if they were from another planet, especially her boss.
"Miss Kim... do you feel this strange vibe too? It's like everyone here is taken aback by us! I wonder why," Suzy mused softly as they entered the elevator. Jisoo smiled at her secretary and shot her a quick knowing glance.
"Don't fret about them... I actually worked here as an intern before, so they do recognize me," Jisoo reassured Suzy. Her secretary's eyes widened in surprise at her boss's revelation.
"Oh, that explains a lot! I was starting to feel really uneasy with all the stares," Suzy admitted. The elevator doors opened as they reached the 7th floor. Stepping out, they were greeted by Haein's secretary, Hanri. Jisoo beamed with delight at seeing her longtime friend.
"Eonni, my dear!" Jisoo exclaimed with affectionate eyes. Hanri gasped in disbelief before pulling Jisoo into a tight hug without hesitation. Jisoo warmly returned the embrace, holding her friend close.
"Oh, Jisooyaa... I missed you terribly... This feels surreal," Hanri expressed with joy as a tear trickled down her cheek. Jisoo let out a soft giggle and gently stepped back to look at her friend's face.
"Look at you, eonni! You look just the same... so beautiful!" Jisoo exclaimed. Hanri smiled warmly and tightly held Jisoo's hand.
"Nothing compared to you, my dear... you look absolutely stunning. Age has only refined your beauty. I'm so happy to see you here!" Hanri responded with heartfelt sincerity.
"Thank you, eonni... I'm thrilled to be here because it means I get to see you!" Jisoo replied. Suzy observed the close and friendly interaction between the two friends. She was surprised by how personal and informal her boss was being during their first visit to a potential partner company. However, Jisoo quickly noticed Suzy's long and judgmental stares.
"Eonni, where do I need to go to meet Mr. Jung and his team?" Jisoo inquired.
"Ah, yes... your team arrived 5 minutes ago. They are already in the meeting room. Let me show you the way," Hanri informed. Jisoo nodded and followed Hanri.
Meanwhile, Haein was in conversation with Jicheol when he suddenly caught sight of Jisoo entering the room. His body tensed up as he gazed at her with longing. Jisoo was taken aback by Haein's intense stare. She cleared her throat and greeted everyone in the room.
"Nigel, would you please do the honors of presenting our corporation to our potential partner?" Jisoo requested as she took her seat at the large table.
"Yes, Miss Kim... it would be my pleasure," Nigel, the team's spokesperson, started introducing his teammates and company to the representatives from the other party seated across the table. Jisoo listened attentively, nodding in agreement with every word Nigel spoke. She remained focused and composed throughout the meeting. However, Haein found himself unable to tear his gaze away from her. He couldn't help but feel a deep sense of longing and missed her presence immensely.
Haein's lack of focus was evident as his attention remained fixed on Jisoo, rather than on the Nigel's presentation. His prolonged gaze did not go unnoticed by Suzy, who observed his distraction with curiosity. Suzy couldn't help but find it odd that the CEO seemed more engrossed in admiring Jisoo's beauty than in listening to the introduction.
Haein's overt focus on Jisoo was abruptly interrupted by the loud applause that resonated throughout the room.
"Thank you, Nigel. That was a great speech you delivered! Isn't that right, Mr. Jung?" Jicheol inquired, turning to Haein. Haein offered a small smile and nodded in agreement.
