Haein stood there, his heart aching as he watched Jisoo weep inconsolably for what felt like hours. He was at a loss for words, unsure how to comfort her beyond holding her tightly. This time, she clung to him, her body pressed against his as tears streamed down her face, her head nestled into his chest. He stroked her hair gently, hoping to provide some solace. Meanwhile, Daniel had stepped outside the hospital, seeking a moment of respite to gather his racing thoughts and emotions.
"Please, sweetheart, look at me," Haein whispered softly, carefully tilting her chin upward. The anguish etched on Jisoo's face was heartbreaking. He leaned in closer, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead, wishing to convey all his love and support.
"Stay strong... You have to be strong for him. I need you to believe that Minseok's anemia won't be too serious. Please..." He urged gently, trying to soothe her distress. Jisoo clutched his shirt tightly, her gaze locked onto his.
"I'm so sorry for pushing you away earlier! I... I was just overwhelmed with worry for Minseok. Everything and everyone felt like too much to handle..." she confessed, her voice trembling. Haein pressed another soft kiss to her forehead, exhaling slowly. Jisoo could feel the warmth of his breath against her skin, a small comfort in the midst of her turmoil.
"It's alright... I understand that my constant efforts to cheer you up might have worn you down. I just didn't know how else to help," he murmured softly, resting his chin on her head. Jisoo pulled back slightly to look into his eyes.
"Haein... I just want my baby back in my arms! I... I need him back!" she sobbed, her face twisted in a mixture of fear and despair.
"Soon, my love... I truly believe it will happen. We just have to hold on to hope!" he reassured her. Just then, the doctor rushed toward them, his expression tense. Haein's heart raced at the sight of the doctor's agitation, while Jisoo felt a wave of helplessness wash over her as she took in the scene.
"What's wrong??" Haein asked, his voice laced with concern. The doctor swallowed hard, turning his gaze to Jisoo.
"We need to consider options two or three for Minseok. He's not responding to the life support systems or the medications meant to keep him stable," the doctor explained grimly. Jisoo, unable to bear the weight of those words, collapsed into Haein's arms.
"JISOO..!! My love, please...!!" Haein shouted, panic rising within him as his mind raced with fear. His eyes darted around, desperate for a solution. Two nurses quickly rushed over, ready to assist Jisoo, their training kicking in as they worked to help her.
"Where is the father? Where is Daniel?" the doctor asked urgently.
"I... I have no idea... He mentioned needing to step outside for some air!" Haein replied, his agitation mounting as chaos swirled around him. Jisoo was being taken to another room, while the doctor continued discussing Minseok's condition and pressing for Daniel's whereabouts.
