Since the arrival of her child, Minseok, Jisoo had found it difficult to fully open up to Haein. Behind a facade of normalcy, she was grappling with her emotions, choosing to keep her struggles hidden rather than sharing them with him. At first, Haein believed Jisoo's distance was merely a result of the pressure that came with her new role as a mother. The initial weeks were particularly challenging for her, but gradually, she seemed to find her footing.
Respecting her space, Haein refrained from imposing his own needs on her. Yet, those needs were unmistakably tied to Jisoo. He longed for her, craving the intimacy they once shared. Each day, he found himself daydreaming about her, hoping for the moment she would desire him again. However, as a month and a half passed without any signs of that spark returning, his frustration began to simmer beneath the surface. Unlike before, when he would retreat after being turned away, this time he chose to confront the issue head-on.
"I've had enough of this!!" Haein exclaimed, his voice echoing through the room. Jisoo jumped at the sudden outburst, her gaze snapping to him. He looked genuinely upset this time, and confusion washed over her as she blinked in response.
"What's really going on, Jisoo? You need to tell me why you've been pushing me away for so long! Your rejections are hurting me!" Haein continued, his tone a mix of frustration and sincerity. Jisoo's heart sank at his words; she never meant to make him feel unwanted. Guilt washed over her as she slowly closed the dishwasher, the last plate now tucked away.
"Haein! Please... I'm really sorry for making you feel this way! I never meant to hurt you!" Jisoo said, her eyes filled with remorse. Haein ran his fingers through his hair, trying to rein in the anger that had bubbled up inside him.
"Then what is it? Why are you acting like this? Why do you keep pushing me away?" he pressed, frustration evident in his voice. Jisoo lowered her gaze, wrapping her arms around herself in a protective gesture.
"I... I'm just not comfortable showing you my body!" she admitted, tears welling up in her eyes. A look of disbelief crossed Haein's face. He was taken aback, confusion swirling within him. He knew her body had changed after giving birth, but to him, she was still perfect—flawless in every way. With a sense of tenderness, he stepped closer to her, his heart aching for the woman he loved.
"Baby, you know I don't love you just for your body... I love everything about you! Your kindness, your sense of humor, your bravery, your determination, and so much more! Have I ever given you a reason to feel uncomfortable showing me your body? Did I say something that I can't recall?" Haein asked, concern etched across his face. Jisoo managed a small smile, though a tear slipped down her cheek.
"None!" she whispered softly, her voice barely audible. Haein gently reached out, cupping her delicate face in his hands.
"Then what's making you feel so insecure?" he pressed, his eyes searching hers. Jisoo grasped at his shirt, her gaze drifting to his chest, unable to meet his eyes. Embarrassment washed over her, mingling with fear as she struggled to articulate her feelings.
"I... I just don't want you to be disappointed... My body isn't the same, Haein! I've been trying to lose weight because I can't stand how I look in the mirror!" she confessed, her voice laced with sorrow. Haein sighed, gently lifting her chin with his hands to meet her gaze. He cupped her cheeks, his smile warm and reassuring.
"Jisoo... you are absolutely perfect to me just the way you are... Please believe me... I love everything I see and touch right now," he said softly, his hand brushing against her ass. A look of disbelief crossed Jisoo's face, and a smile broke through her tears as she absorbed his words.
"Baby, you don't need to change or stress about losing your pregnancy weight for me! I honestly don't care about that—your happiness is what matters to me! So please, don't be so hard on yourself... Give your body some time to adjust. It's only been a month and a half since you gave birth; it's way too soon to be worrying about weight!" Haein said, continuing to affectionately stroke her ass. Jisoo felt a wave of relief wash over her as she listened to him. She realized she had been too harsh on herself these past few weeks.
