How is it that time seems to fly?
He had spent countless days searching for any trace of her, yet nothing had surfaced. Time felt like it dragged on, yet it slipped away in an instant. This contradiction washed over him as he gazed out the window of the car. The vibrant, bustling streets of New York unfolded before him, but the vehicle crawled along due to the heavy traffic. It was nearing 9 PM, and he was driving through the city in an attempt to escape the weight of his worries and find some distraction.
The absence of any leads on Jisoo after a week had begun to weigh heavily on him, filling him with a sense of despair. When he first arrived in New York, he had been filled with optimism, convinced that things would unfold seamlessly. Yet, reality had proven to be quite the opposite. Letting out a deep sigh, he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Andrew, keenly observing his friend's mood, gently steered the car to the side of the road.
"Sir! We've made it!" Andrew announced, glancing at Haein through the rearview mirror. Haein responded with a faint nod and a warm smile.
"Thanks, Andrew. Have a great evening... you can head home now!" Haein said, quickly exiting the car. As Andrew watched him go, he noticed that Haein didn't head toward the hotel's main entrance but instead walked away. Concern washed over him, and without a second thought, Andrew dashed after Haein as he moved further from the hotel.
"Sir! SIR!!" Andrew called out, trying to catch Haein's attention. Haein paused, turning to face him.
"I'm sorry to intrude, but where are you headed?" Andrew continued, positioning himself in front of Haein to meet his gaze. "Let me drive you wherever you're going—that's what you hired me for!" Haein offered a small smile in response, appreciating Andrew's concern.
"Andrew, really... you should just head home," Haein replied. "I just can't bring myself to go back to my room right now. I need to walk and clear my head. I'm not going far away, so you can go." Andrew let out a small sigh, not entirely convinced.
"Sir! Please, if you need anything at all, don't hesitate to reach out! I'm available whenever you need me!" Andrew insisted. Haein nodded in acknowledgment and gave Andrew's shoulder a quick, reassuring pat.
"Thank you....will do if anything happens!" Haein said and slowly started walking away from him. Andrew just followed him again with his eyes.
"He really looks miserable! Why is he even here? He's not doing anything besides looking for someone around the city!" Andrew mumbled to himself and slowly walked back to his car.
Strolling through the bustling streets of New York was just what he required. His thoughts were consumed by Jisoo, leaving him restless and on edge. An inexplicable anxiety clung to him, creating a sense of discomfort that was hard to shake. Sleep had become elusive, each night leaving him drained as he constantly awoke with a tightness in his chest. In his dreams, Jisoo's voice echoed, pleading for assistance, and each time he awoke, a deep-seated worry settled within him.
