I woke up the next morning, still as tired as before. I hated school.
I got ready for school and got in Delaney's car, her car was finally fixed.
"Are you okay?" Delaney asked.
"Yeah, Marcus texted me last night." I said.
"Well what did he say?" She asked, starting to drive us to school.
"He wanted to fix our friendship but I told him I didn't want to because of how much of a bitch Mary is." I said.
"And what did he say about that?" She asked.
"He said that he doesn't want to leave her even though I never told him to." I said.
"It's okay. He'll come around. I know you're still really hurt about it Zoey there's no way you would just move on. Marcus has been in our lives since you guys were babies." She said.
I started to cry. I did really miss him.
"It's okay Zoey. I'm here for you forever." Delaney said, holding my hand.
I held back my tears as we pulled in the school. I got out and Delaney walked me to my first class.
"Have a good day sis. I'll see you later." Delaney said, hugging me tightly.
I took a deep breath and went into my first hour. Marcus was already sitting down.
"Hey Zoey." Marcus said.
I ignored him. I really didn't feel like crying and him talking to me just made me want to cry.
"Come on Zoo you can't ignore me forever." He said.
"Please Marcus. Just please, not today." I said, putting my head down.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
I shook my head no. I was never a liar.
"Do you wanna talk about it after class?" He asked.
"No." I said.
"Come on, you always talk to me." He said.
I shrugged, leaving my head down the whole class. I hated this class. I hated this feeling.
After class I walked out, going to Lynette and I started crying.
"Okay let's get you to the bathroom." Lynette said.
I tried hiding my face so nobody would see me but Marcus noticed it.
I walked as quickly as possible to the bathroom, sitting down against the bathroom wall.
"What's going on?" Lynette asked, sitting next to me.
"I hate not having my best friend around. He meant so much to me." I said.
"I get it. Isn't he trying to talk to you though?" Lynette asked.
"I don't want to deal with Mary's drama." I said.
"Mary can't say shit. She must be really jealous if she's controlling who he hangs out with." She said.
"I guess." I said, shrugging after.
I walked out of the bathroom and Marcus was standing outside of the bathroom. Jesus.
"Can we talk Zoey?" Marcus asked.
"Talk to him." Lynette whispered, walking away.
"Make it quick." I said.
"No. I know you're not okay Zoo. Please tell me what's going on." Marcus said.
"Nothing. Nothing that concerns you." I said.
"It concerns me even when you're mad at me." He said.
Right.
"Whatever Marcus." I said.
"Look Zoey I'm gonna break up with Mary. She said some stuff about you yesterday that really didn't sit right with me and I saw screenshots of her talking shit to you." He said.
"So you finally realized a fucking year later." I said.
"Please. Zoo. Let me fix this." He said.
"Okay." I said.
"Okay?" He asked.
"Okay." I said.
"Can I have a hug?" He asked.
I smiled, giving him a hug. I missed Marcus a lot. He was apart of me, he knew everything. He even knew about my dad and not even Lynette knew about him yet.
My dad was a drug addict and left us for his new girlfriend Lana which they had a kid with. I hadn't seen him since.
Only Marcus was trusted with that secret and I silently thanked God that he didn't tell anyone after we stopped being best friends.
