Delaney and Dylan had gotten back home and Marcus had to leave with Dylan.
"Are you okay now?" Delaney asked.
"Other than hearing you and Dylan? I'm fine." I said with a laugh.
"You're not funny. Anyways, I can tell you and Marcus are happier when you guys are around each other." She said.
"That's because he's my best friend." I said.
"And you're sure it's not gonna be anything more than that?" She asked.
"Delaney." I said.
I didn't like him like that. He was my best friend and just my best friend.
"I'm just asking. Just a thought." She said.
"No. We aren't. Ever." I said.
"If you say so. I'm going to bed." She said.
"Are you still taking me to school tomorrow?" I asked.
"Yep." She said.
I nodded as she went upstairs. Why would she think Marcus and I would be more than best friends? Did we look like it? Did we act like it?
I figured what we did together was just best friend stuff. It was. I didn't like him. No way. He was my best friend.
I went up to my room, setting my alarm and getting ready for bed. I then got a text message from Marcus.
Marcus: Hey you.
Me: Hi. Can't sleep?
Marcus: Nope. You?
Me: Never lol. What are you doing?
Marcus: Laying in bed. Everyone else is asleep.
Me: Same. Well, my mom's probably asleep at some motel with some random dude.
Marcus: Gross.
Me: Delaney said something very odd earlier.
Marcus: What did she say?
Me: She said that we looked like a couple and acted like one. I don't see it.
Marcus: Is that so?
Me: She also asked if we were ever going to be more than just best friends.
Marcus: Ah. Yeah I don't see it either.
Me: Yeah figured. We're just best friends.
Marcus: Yes ma'am. Anyways, go to sleep. You need it. I love you.
Me: I love you too. Goodnight.
I plugged in my phone, going to sleep. Best friends? Not best friends? This was just all so confusing. It shouldn't have been confusing.
I woke up the next morning and got ready for school. Delaney took me and we arrived at school. I hated school.
We walked over to Dylan and Marcus.
"Hey babe." Dylan said to Delaney.
Gross!
"Oh God. Let's go before we see more than just that." Marcus said.
I laughed as Dylan gave us a dirty look. We walked away to our first hour.
"God I hate it here." I said.
"You say that like every single day." Marcus said.
"Well I like to express my feelings." I said.
"So you'd tell the principal that you hate it here?" He asked.
I stayed silent.
"I thought so." He said, laughing at me as I punched his arm.
I hated it here, but Marcus and Lynette made it a lot better.
