"I really don't get why Chanel keeps going. Shouldn't she know that she needs to stop?" I said.
"I'm sure she'll stop. Now please come here." Marcus said.
I was over at Marcus's house, for the first time since he cheated. We don't talk about that.
"I know but I don't know. I want her to stop sooner." I said.
"Baby. Please come here." He said.
I sighed, sitting down next to Marcus as he kissed me.
"Everything's gonna be fine." Marcus said.
"You really think so?" I asked.
"I know so. We're gonna make sure she stops I promise." He said.
"Good. Because I just wanna live a better life." I said.
"You are, she shouldn't be able to stop that." He said.
"I guess." I said.
"No. Not I guess. You fought so damn hard to get here, don't let some silly blondie bitch get to that." He said.
I shrugged as he kissed me again.
"I'm sorry I'm being so emotional over this." I said.
"I should be the one apologizing. I almost believed her." He said.
"Everyone did, so I'm not mad. She made it look pretty real in my opinion." I said.
"You're not wrong, but I'm glad you're not using again Zoey. You don't need that life anymore." He said.
"Did you really wanna be with me when I was using?" I asked.
"I always wanna be with you. I love you Zoey. I'm in love with you. I will never leave you over some stupid drugs, but I thought you were lying to me this time since she made it look so real but I'm always here." He said.
"Yeah, but did you ever look at me differently?" I asked.
"Never. You're still my annoying ass best friend from kindergarten." He said.
I punched him in the arm as he hugged me.
"I'm sorry I put you through so much of my drama." I said.
"Babe. I've been in your drama for 16 years. I'm good. I'm here for you. I don't care what happens, I'm not leaving." He said.
I buried my face in his neck, embracing him. I loved his hugs, his scent, his smile, his eyes, everything. I loved Marcus. I could never stop loving him.
"Are you gonna stay the night?" Marcus asked.
"Yeah, if you want me to." I said.
"Ugh, no. Go." He said, laughing.
"Fine then." I said, crossing my arms and looking away.
"You can't do that!" He said.
I shrugged as he pulled my face to his, making out with me.
"Okay, I'm good now." I said, smiling at him.
"Good." He said, letting me go in his arms.
I laid my head on his chest as he kissed my forehead.
"School sucks." I said.
"I know, but in 2 years we'll be done." Marcus said.
"Are we still gonna be with each other for college? You wanna be a professional basketball player and I wanna be a photographer." I said.
"There's a college here that takes both. That way we can be together." He said.
"Yeah, that'll work." I said.
It got pretty late, we had already ate dinner and Dylan went to Delaney's for the night. I let Tasha know I was staying with Marcus. I took my medicine to help with my sleep and nightmares, taking my shirt off.
I laid in Marcus's arms again as his hand traced along my back, making me fall asleep.
"I love you Zoey." Marcus said.
"I love you." I said.
He kissed my forehead as I fell asleep. I felt so safe with Marcus. No matter what.
