I woke up the next morning, getting ready to go to breakfast. I brushed my hair, putting it in a low bun and getting my shoes on.

I walked out to the cafeteria and looked over, Mary was sitting by herself.

I sat across from her.

"Hey." I said.

"Hey. How did you sleep?" Mary asked.

"I slept okay, better than I have in years. Only because I take medicine for it." I said.

"Yeah. You look great by the way." She said.

"Yeah, I've been told I'm gaining weight so I'm pretty happy about that. I've been trying." I said.

"I'm so sorry you went through all of this and I bullied you." She said.

"You clearly had something going on, so I didn't think too much of it." I said.

"How's Marcus doing?" She asked.

"Not sure. We broke up, I haven't talked to him since the second day I was here and it's been about a week." I said.

"I'm sorry." She said.

"I need to focus on myself before I date anyone, I'm not sad. He's still my best friend." I said.

"Do they transfer school work here? I need my grades to stay good." She said.

"Yeah they do. Tasha brings me my school work from the office everyday, so your sponsor would probably do the same for you." I said.

"Okay. She did say something about that. I'll ask Leslie again." She said.

"You're gonna be okay here. There's a lot of psychos here duh, but it's not bad." I said.

"Yeah." She said.

"Phone time." Tasha said.

"I have to go. I'll talk to you later?" I asked.

"Of course." She said.

I threw away my trash and walked with Tasha to the phones.

"Who are we calling today?" Tasha asked.

"Marcus." I said.

"Oh wow, what's the occasion?" She asked.

"Just a check up." I said.

I dialed in Marcus's number.

"Hello?" Marcus answered.

"Hi Marcus." I said.

"Hey Zoey. How are you doing?" He asked.

"I'm good. I've been keeping up on my school work." I said.

"I'm proud of you. I haven't seen Mary anywhere so that's a good sign." He said.

"Marcus. Mary's here." I said.

"What happened?" He asked.

"I'm not supposed to tell you so I'm not saying anything anymore but don't tell her I told you okay?" I said.

"You got it. Is she okay?" He asked.

"She's doing fine." I said.

"Good. I'm glad you're doing good too Zoey." He said.

"Me too. How's Dylan holding up?" I asked.

"He's alright, he's been with Delaney taking her to school since Delaney doesn't feel like driving. She's been pretty upset but it's because she misses you a lot." He said.

"I miss her a lot too." I said.

"Are you at least liking it there?" He asked.

"Not one bit, but it's all good. It's helping me." I said.

"Good." He said.

"Alright Marcus I have to go. I love you." I said.

"I love you too Zoey. Be safe." He said.

I hung up, going back to Tasha.

"How did it go?" Tasha asked.

"I'm glad this whole break up situation isn't hard on the both of us. We really wanted to workout together it's just right now is just not the right time." I said.

"And that's okay. You will find back to him once the time is right and once you're ready." She said.

I nodded. I hoped everything would workout between us.
