Sabena Flight 548, registered as Oscar Oscar- Sierra Juliet Bravo (OO-SJB), was a Boeing 707-329 flight operated by Sabena, that crashed on its approach to it's destination airport Brussels Airport (IATA: BRU, ICAO: EBBR), the flight was from Joh.F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK), the crash occurred on the 15th of February 1961.

The flight, which originated at John. F. Kennedy International Airport, crashed while on approach to Brussels Airport, Belgium, the crash killed all 72 people on board the plane, plus on person on the ground was also killed in the accident (73 in total), the fatalities included the entire United States figure skating team, who were travelling to the world figure skating championships in Prague, Czechoslovakia.

It became clear that the pilots were fighting for control of the plane, as they were making their attempt to land at Brussels despite the fact that a mechanical malfunctions, which was preventing the flight crew from landing the plane normally, the plane then circled the airfield three times, during which the bank angle increased gradually until the aircraft climbed to 1,500 feet and it was in a near vertical bank, then the planes wings levelled, then the plane pitched up abruptly, then it lost speed and spiralled rapidly nose down, plunging into the ground less then two miles (3 kilometres) from the airport, the crash occurred at 10:05 CET (09:05 UTC)

The crash was the first fatal accident involving the Boeing 707 in passenger service and the crash remains the deadliest plane crash to occur on Belgian soil.

The summary of the crash was loss of control for undetermined reasons; possible mechanical failure.
