Caribbean Airlines Flight 523, registered as 9 Yankee- Papa Bravo Mike (9Y-PBM), was a scheduled international passenger flight which overran the runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (IATA: GEO, ICAO: SYCJ), Georgetown, Guyana, on the 30th of July 2011, seven of the 163 people on board the plane suffered injuries, the aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800, it was operating Caribbean Airlines scheduled international service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (IATA: JFK, ICAO: KJFK), New York, to Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Georgetown, Guyana, the flight had a scheduled stopover at Piarco International Airport (IATA: POS, ICAO: TTPP), Port of Spain, Trinidad.
The aircraft failed to stop in rainy weather on the runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, the plane overran the runway at 01:32am local time (05:32am UTC), the plane crashed through the perimeter fence and then it stopped 100 meters (330 feet) past the end of runway 06 after the plane went over a road and the plane broke into two sections.
The summary of the crash was a Runway Overrun on landing due to pilot error.
