The 1986 Aerovías Guatemala air crash that occurred on the 18th of January 1986 and it involved a Sud Aviation SE-120 Caravelle III aircraft, registered as Hotel Charlie- Bravo Alpha Echo (HC-BAE), that crashed into a hill on approach to Santa Elena Airport (IATA: FRS, ICAO: MGMM), Flores, Guatemala after a short flight from La Aurora International Airport (IATA: GUA, ICAO: MGGT), Guatemala City, Guatemala, all 93 people on board the plane were killed in the crash, which makes it the worst air disaster in Guatemalan history.

The first approach the flight made was too high to Santa Elena Airport, so they overshot the runway, on the second attempt to land at the airport, the plane crashed and caught fire about 8 kilometres from the destination airport, the control tower's last contact with the flight crew occurred at 7:58am local time, 33 minutes into the 4o minute flight, with no reports of an anomalies, the accident killed all 93 people on board and the aircraft was completely destroyed in the crash.

The summary of the crash was Controlled Flight into Terrain, the cause was underdetermined.
