Pictured above is a similar type of aircraft tat was involved in this crash.
A British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC) Lockheed L-749A Constellation, registered as Golf- Alpha Lima Alpha Mike (G-ALAM) crashed and caught fire as it attempted to land at Kallang Airport (IATA: 3990, ICAO: 3990), Singapore, on the 13th of March 1954, the crash killed 33 out of the 40 people on board the plane, this is the highest death toll of any aviation accident in Singapore, the plane struck a Seawall as it was landing, the investigation found that the cause of the crash was crew tiredness and the response of the airport fire unit.
The accident occurred when the aircraft struck a Seawall on approach to Runway 06 at Kallang, damaging the under carriage and it caused a leak from the umber three fuel tank, as the aircraft touched down a second time, on the runway, the under carriage collapsed (the under carriage is another word for landing gear) and the aircraft slid until the starboard (right) wing broke off, the remainder of the aircraft rolled to the right, coming to a rest upside down with the fuselage in two pieces, and one of the engines carried on for another 100 yards (91 meters), the aircraft was already on fire when it came to a rest, the weather that day was clear at 2:35pm local time when the accident occurred, all 31 passengers died, along with two crew members (33 in total), it's the highest death toll of any aviation accident to ever take place on Singapore soil.
