Air India Flight 855, registered as Victor Tango- Echo Bravo Delta (VT-EBD), was a scheduled international passenger flight from Santa Cruz Airport (IATA: BOM, ICAO: VABB), Bombay, India to Dubai International Airport (IATA: DXB, ICAO: OMDB), Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on the 1st of January 1978, the Boeing 747-800 operating the flight crashed about 3 kilometres off the coast of Bandra, Bombay (now Mumbai), all 213 people on board were killed in the crash, as of 2023 it's the second deadliest crash to happen to Air India and it's the second deadliest to occur in India.
One minute after the plane took off from runway 27, the Captain made a scheduled right turn upon crossing the Bombay coastline over the Arabian Sea, where the plane rolled to the left and it never regained level flight, the Captain's AI (Attitude Indicator) showed the plane was in a right bank, the First Officer's AI showed the plane was in a left bank, the Captain mistaken perception of the attitude which resulted in him using the Aircraft Flight Control System to add more left bank and left rudder which caused the Boeing 747 to roll further to the left into a bank of 108 degrees and it rapidly lost altitude, just 101 seconds (1.68 minutes) after the plane left the runway, the plane hit the Arabian Sea at an estimated 35 degree nose down angle, there were no survivors.
The summary of the crash was Instrument malfunction leading to a loss of situational awareness; crashed into the Arabian Sea.

On the 12th of November 1996, Saudi Flight 763, registered as Hotel Zulu- Alpha India Hotel (HZ-AIH), was a Boeing 747 aircraft en route for Delhi International Airport (IATA: DEL, ICAO: VIDP), India to Dhahran Airport (IATA: DHA, ICAO: OEDR), Saudi Arabia and Kazakhstan Airlines Flight 1907, registered as Uniform November 76435 (UN76435), was an Ilyushin Il-76, which was en route from Chimkent Airport (IATA: CIT, ICAO: UAII), Kazakhstan, to Deli International Airport, when the two planes collided over the village of Charkhi Dadri, around 100 kilometres west of Delhi Airport, the collision and the crash killed all 349 people on board both of the planes, which makes it the deadliest mid air collision and the deadliest aviation accident to occur in India.
The Kazakhstan plane was cleared to 15,000 feet when it was 137 kilometres away from the destination airport, while the Saudi plane was cleared to climb to 14,000 feet, so it could pass under the Kazakh plane before it could climb again, eight minutes later the Kazakh plane reached 15,000 feet but the plane was actually lower at 14,500 feet and it was descending, at this time the ATC controller on duty advised the Saudi flight about the traffic ahead of them, which was 19 kilometres away from their current position, when the ATC controller contacted the Kazakh plane, he got no response, he tried to warn about the other flight's distance to the Kazakh plane, but by then it was too late, the two plane collided, the tail of the Kazakh plane sliced through the left wing of the Saudi plane and it also sliced through the planes horizontal stabiliser, the crippled 747 quickly lost control and went into a descending spiral with a fire trailing from the wing, the 747 broke up in mid air before it crashed at nearly 1,135 kilometres per hour, the Ilyushin remained intact and it entered a steady but rapid and uncontrolled descent until it crashed in a field, the 747 landed near Dhani village, Bhiwani District, Haryana, the Ilyushin hit the ground near Birohar village, Rohtak District, Haryana.
The summary of the crash was a Mid air collision.
