On the 1st of July 1983, an Ilyushin Il-62M, registered as 889, was operated by Chosonminhang, in total there was 23 fatalities, which was everyone onboard the plane, the flight was en route to Ahmed Sékou Touré International Airport (IATA: CKY, ICAO: GUCY), Conakry, Guinea from Cairo International Airport (IATA: CAI, ICAO: HECA), Cairo, Egypt.

The plane was flying construction cargo and construction workers to Guinea, ahead of the 1984 Organisation of African Unity summit, the plane crashed into the Fouta Djallon Mountains on the last leg of it's flight, the flight originated from Pyongyang-Sunan Airport (IATA: FNJ, ICAO: ZKPY), Pyongyang, North Korea, the flight made stopovers at Kabul International Airport (IATA: KBL, ICAO: OAKB), Kabul, Afghanistan and it's final stopover was at Cairo International Airport.

The summary of the crash was Undetermined, it was unknown as to why the plane crashed.
