you sobbed into your boyfriends arms after the news was broken to you. your best friend was dead. no one could've expected it, but they were gone.
"tj- what am i supposed to do?" you asked, clutching for breath as you cling onto his figure, rivers of tears flooding down your cheeks.
"i've got you, i've got you darling." tj mumbled, rocking you back and forth, his head against the wall. he continued to whisper sweet nothings to you softly as you mourned the passing of one of the people who knew you better than anyone.
the morning of the funeral, you were nothing other than a wreck. you stood in front of your bedroom mirror, tj a few feet behind you, adjusting his tie. your eyes were red and tear-stained, but you had to go, as much as it was killing you inside even thinking about it.
tj came up behind you in the mirror, wrapping two arms around your waist, rubbing a reassuring thumb over the black fabric of your dress, one you knew your best friend would've adored on you.
"i miss them so much." you cried, holding onto tj's arms as if they were the only thing capable of holding you up right now. "i know, darling." tj whispered, a sad look across his own face. he placed a gentle kiss on your cheek, before grabbing your hand to head out the door.
the funeral was harder than you ever could've imagined. seeing your best friend being carried down the isle, in a wooden box rather than in the wedding gown they'd always dreamed of.
you wouldn't have made it through that service without tj by your side, you knew that for sure. you both payed your respects, placing a beautiful white rose on top of the engraved wooden coffin, alongside a variety of other flowers.
"you're doing great, sweetheart." tj whispered, tears brimming in his own eyes. funerals were never easy, not for anyone. it was even worse mourning the loss of someone who was gone way too soon.
the service was long, and hard. you listened to different family members, people who had become family to you over the years of knowing your best friend.
they all talked about how amazing of a person they were, how they were gone too soon.
you would've done anything for a couple more minutes with them, almost anyone sitting in that church would've.
tj held you, being the strength for you throughout the service when you didn't think you had an ounce left in your body.
"thank you." you cried, watching as they carried your best friend away, out the doors of the church.
"i'm here for you, always." tj promised.
