Summary: Sonny's best friend visits him at the precinct with some unsettling news.

You walk up to the person at the front desk.

"I'm looking for Detective Carisi," you say, voice barely audible.

She hands you a visitor badge and an officer leads you to the SVU bullpen. You thank him and look around the room.

"Can I help you," a blonde woman asks you.

"I-i'm looking for Sonny Carisi. Is h-he here," you ask her.

"Yeah, he's in the break room. Follow me."

You follow her to the break room where you see your best friend chatting with a brunette woman. He looks over and sees your tear-stained face. Setting his much-needed coffee down, he pulls you into a tight hug. The blonde and brunette leave you two alone.

"Y/N, what are you doing here," he asks.

"I didn't know where else to go," you choke out.

"What happened?"

"My parents are dead," you sob into his chest.

"What? How?"

"They were murdered. I just came from their house. The detectives took my statement and I left. I couldn't be there knowing my parents were going to be wheeled out in body bags."

"Why didn't you call me?"

"I did, but you didn't answer."

He pulls away and pats himself down, looking for his phone.

"I must have left my phone at my desk. I am so sorry, Y/N/N. I am so sorry."

You walk back to the bullpen and see everyone standing around.

"Well, I wish this was under better circumstances, but everyone, meet Y/N Y/L/N. My best friend," Sonny tells them.

You give a small wave while clutching Sonny.

"Y/N/N, meet Amanda Rollins, Fin Tutuola, Nick Amarro, Liv Benson, and Peter Stone. They're my team," he explains to you.

You pull away from Sonny and walk over to Amanda. Liv and Peter walked over to Sonny.

"Sonny, what's wrong," Liv asks.

"Her parents were murdered. She called me and I didn't answer. God, I feel like such a bad friend."

"Hey, you're not a bad friend," Peter reassures him.

"I should've been there for her. She's always been there for me. Ever since college."

"How come we're just now meeting her," Fin asks, joining the group.

Sonny hesitates for a minute.

"She's an actress on Broadway. She's at the theater all week and only gets a few weeks off during a show, not including sick days. She also has really bad social anxiety, which is kinda ironic considering she's around people all day."

"Captain Benson, may I have a word?"

The four turn to see a detective standing in the doorway.

"Of course. This way," she says, leading the detective into her office.

Sonny walks over to his desk to grab his phone and he sees a missed call from you. He sighs and listens to the voicemail.

"Sonny, it's me. I didn't know who else to call. I had the day off and went to my parents' house and saw a bunch of police there. They told me my parents were killed. I need you right now, Dominick."

Sonny sighed at the use of his real name. You only called him that when you were hurting. He puts his phone in his pocket and walks over to you.

"Y/N/N, I am so sorry I didn't answer," he says.

"It's alright, Sonny. I just needed to see you right now."

He hugs you again and Liv walks out of her office with the detective. She motions for the others to come inside.

"We're taking over the case," she says, once Fin closed the door.

"Why," Amanda asks.

"First because it's Carisi's best friend. Second, they found evidence of sexual assault on her mother," Liv explains.

"What about Carisi," Nick asks.

"He'll be staying with Y/N at all times for protection."

They all nod and walk back to you guys. Liv pulls Sonny aside to explain while Amanda pulls you into a hug.

"We are so sorry about your parents, Y/N," she says while Nick rubs your back.

"We'll get the son of a bitch who did this," he adds.

"Y/N, sweetie, Sonny's gonna be with you at all times just as a precaution. Do you think you'll be able to take time from the show," Liv asks you.

"I'd have to talk to the director, but given the situation, I should be able to," you tell her.
