"Fuck," you groan, loudly.
Everyone looks at you and you laugh.
"My friend's wedding is on Saturday and I still don't have a date," you explain.
"I'll do it," Antonio says.
"You sure? It's the friend who's been nothing but a bitch to me since we graduated."
"Why not," he shrugs.
"Alright."
"Wait, which one," Hailey asks.
"Corrine," you roll your eyes.
"How bad can she be," Jay chuckles.
"Well, I follow the maid of honor on Twitter, and apparently, Corrine has been nothing but Bridezilla the entire process."
"Good luck, Tonio," Atwater laughs.
Saturday came and you showered after waking up. You did your hair and makeup before getting dressed.
The ceremony started at two and Antonio picked you up at 12:30. You drove to the church and walked inside. You rolled your eyes at how many people were there.
"Seems the happy couple are pretty popular," Antonio chuckles.
"Star gymnast and star quarterback became high school sweethearts," you tell him.
You sit towards the back and tune out most of the ceremony. At the reception, you make your rounds, talking with old classmates you haven't seen since the reunion last summer. After the meal, Corrine and her husband make their rounds. When she comes over to you, you put on your fakest smile and hug her.
"I didn't know if you could make it with work," she says.
"Well, work never leaves my person," you reply, showing your badge that's clipped to your pants.
"Who's this," her husband, Marcus, asks.
"This is Detective Antonio Dawson. We work together," you explain.
"Congratulations, you guys," Tonio says, shaking Marcus' hand.
"Thank you. We have a few more people to see. It was nice meeting you, Antonio," Corrine says, waving.
You drop the smile and sigh. A few hours later, most of the guests had left and you sat in your chair, on your phone.
"You wanna hit Molly's," Antonio asks, leaning over.
"Please," you whine.
You quickly exit without talking to the married couple and head for your favorite bar. You walk in and see your team sitting in a booth.
"How was it," Kim asks.
You roll your eyes for the umpteenth time in the last six hours, making Antonio laugh.
"How many times did she do that," Adam asks.
"I lost count after six," Tonio answers.
