Summary: Your anxiety overwhelms you.
Pairings: Adam Ruzek x Girlfriend
Warnings: Fluff, mild anxiety attackYou've always struggled with anxiety. It started in middle school when the state standardized testing started in seventh grade. In high school and college, you were able to control it better. Adam was currently at work but would be home shortly. You were working on spreadsheets for your job, which was stressing you out. And to make matters worse, you ran out of your anxiety medication three days ago. You sat on the couch and curled into a ball. Adam walked in the door ten minutes later and saw your state. He dropped his things and shut the door before moving over to you.
"Hey, baby. What's wrong," he asks quietly.
"It's too much," you mumble.
"What's too much?"
You gesture to your work and silently sob. Adam pulls you into his arms and rubs your back. He holds you while you cry into his chest. You pull away after a few minutes and wipe your eyes.
"You wanna talk about it," he asks gently.
"I have so many spreadsheets to finish before the end of the week."
"Would you like me to help?"
You play with the sleeves of your sweater and nod slowly.
"Pick one to start with and I'll order some Thai for dinner, alright?"
"Alright," you reply.
Adam places the order while you pull one of the sheets up on your laptop. He joins you on the couch and you finish the current spreadsheet by the time the food arrives, breaking to eat. After cleaning up, you start working on a different spreadsheet. You finish the second spreadsheet around 9:30 and decide to call it a night. You and Adam climb into bed and he puts West Side Story on. You curl into his side and he runs a hand across your arm, kissing your head.
"Thank you for helping me," you mutter quietly.
"Of course, baby. You will always have me to help you," he replies.
You stare at the TV, watching Tony and Maria on the fire escape.
"Sometimes, I feel like we're Tony and Maria," you chuckle.
"Yeah, because I had to fight your brother," Adam rolls his eyes.
"No. I'm talking about the star-crossed lovers."
"It truly was love at first sight for us, huh?"
"It sure was," you reply, kissing him.
