As McGee typed away on his computer, his phone started buzzing.

"McGee."

"Hi, this is Walter Reed Medical Center. Am I speaking with Timothy McGee?"

"Yes, why?"

"I'm calling in regard to Y/N Y/L/N. She was in a vehicle accident and was brought here. How soon can you be here?"

"I can be there within the hour."

"Thank you very much."

The line goes dead and McGee grabs his gear. Gibbs looks over, confused.

"McGee," he asks.

"Y/N was in an accident. Can I go?"

"Yeah, but keep your phone on in case we need you."

He rushes to the elevator and to his car. He quickly parks and goes through security when he arrives, getting flagged because of his gun. He explains he's a federal agent and they let him in. He walks up to the nurse's station.

"I'm Tim McGee. You called saying Y/N Y/L/N was in an accident."

"We did. What is your relation to Miss Y/L/N?"

"I'm her best friend and the only family she has."

The doctor treating you walks over and shakes McGee's hand.

"Thank you for coming. She has a minor concussion and a shattered knee. Other than that, she's fine. She just woke up shortly before we called you and was asking for you," he explains.

McGee sees your fragile state and walks over to you.

"What did I tell you about getting in car accidents," he scolds, jokingly.

"Thanks for coming. I didn't know if you were working or not," you tell him.

"Gibbs told me to come see you. How are you feeling?"

"Like I got in a car accident," you reply sarcastically.

"Well, your sarcasm is still intact," he laughs.

You slap his arm playfully and laugh. A short time later, the team comes into your room. Ziva comes over and hugs you.

"How you feeling, kid," Gibbs asks.

"Alright. I mean, my knee is shattered and I have a concussion."

"Cops said it was a drunk driver," McGee adds.

DiNozzo goes to say something stupid but stops himself, making you laugh.
