Summary: After the hospital bombing, Matty sends the team to help.

"Hey, Matty needs us," Jack says, running past.
You: gotta go, stay safe
Sev: you do the same
You put your phone away and head into the war room. Mac gives you a smile which you return.
"You're headed to Chicago," Matty says, tapping a button on the screen.
"The bombing," you ask.
"How did you-"
"My brother just texted about it. He's a rescue squad firefighter for the CFD," you explain.
"They need some extra hands for recovery and rescue."
"Looks like a hospital," Riley comments.
"That's the Gaffney Medical Center. A friend of mine, his brother is a doctor there," you tell them.
"Which friend," Mac asks.
"The Army Ranger, Jay Halstead," you say, pulling Jay's number up on your phone.
You put the phone up to your ear and walk out of the war room.
"Hey, what's-"
"Please tell me you heard from Will."
"Yeah, he's fine. Kelly tell you?"
"Yeah. Work's sending me and my team."
"I thought you worked at a think tank."
"I work for a government agency," you whisper.
"I gotta go. Keep me posted when you get here."
You walk back into the war room.
"Sorry, I needed to make sure he was okay. The doctor, not the Ranger."
"Go home and pack your bags. I don't know how long you'll be there," Matty says, before dismissing you.
You and Mac head back to your apartment and pack. You land at O'Hare a few hours later and head straight to the hospital. You were talking with Jay's team when Jin came over and said there was a second bomb set to go off at 8:30 pm.
"I'm guessing the first bomb was supposed to go off at 8:00 pm or the second bomb was supposed to be set for 8:30 am," he says.
"I can disarm it," Mac says.
Everyone looks at him and you grab his hand.
"I was a bomb tech in the Army."
"Alright, you do that. But for now, we focus on figuring out what sick bastard did this," Voight says.
Kelly sees your hair in its signature ponytail as he walks out of Shay's room.
"Y/N!"
You turn around and embrace your brother.
"Hey, Kelly. You remember Mac, right?"
"Hey, man," Kelly says, shaking Mac's hand.
"How's Shay," you ask.
"She's right down the hall. First door on the right," he tells you.
You and your team head down the hall, and Shay's eyes light up when she sees you.
"What are you doing here," she asks, hugging you.
"Reenforcements. Meet Jack, Riley, Bozer and you remember my boyfriend, Mac."
"Yeah, I remember Mr. MIT drop-out," she laughs.
"You told her that," Mac asks.
"I tell Leslie Shay everything."
You share a laugh before getting serious.
"Riley, see if you can get the hospital back online where it's not. Bozer, help with triage. Jack, you're gonna work with Truck 81 while Mac and I work with Squad 3," you explain.
You, Mac, and Jack head back outside to Chief Boden.
"Y/N Severide. As I live and breathe," the chief says, embracing you.
"Chief, this is Jack Dalton and Angus MacGyver, two members of my team. We're at your disposal," you tell him.
As the day went on, you pulled people from the rubble and when it got close to 8:00, Jin took Mac to see the bomb to see if he could disarm it. 8:30 hit and everyone braced for impact, and you held your breath while waiting for Mac to return. Ten minutes later, Mac and Jin walked out of the garage and you went running toward your boyfriend. The following night, you all went to Molly's. Jay, Jack, and Mac hit it off, sharing stories about their time overseas while Riley chatted with the girls. You sat with the Squad crew, taking in the sight. Bozer was behind the bar, helping Hermann and Otis.
"MIT did good yesterday," Kelly says, sipping his beer.
"Y/N's boyfriend did not go to MIT," Capp balks.
"Mac did go to MIT but he didn't graduate. He dropped out and joined the Army as a bomb tech," you explain.
"He disarmed yesterday's bomb," Tony asks.
"Oh, yeah. About a year ago, we went to New York because a bomb maker that killed his C.O. was there."
"What happened," Matt asks, joining you.
"So, Mac and an old Army buddy called this dude The Ghost. The dude put a bomb inside of an NYPD mobile unit."
"You telling them the New York story," Mac asks, kissing your head.
"Yeah. Tell Capp where you went to school before joining the Army."
"MIT."
"I don't believe it," Capp says, shaking his head.
