Your son's name is Carter and your daughter's name is Sophia.

You sat on the couch, waiting for your husband to come home from work. He got called in to cover the first half of someone's shift this morning and said he would be back by lunch. You were taking your kids to the zoo for the day since Will finally had a day off after covering so many shifts and taking so much overtime these past few weeks. You heard the sound of an engine turning off and looked out the window to see your husband walking up the steps.

"Carter, Sophia! Dad's home so put your shoes on," you yell upstairs.

The sounds of feet hitting the ground echoed through the house as Will walked in the front door.

"Hey. I'm gonna change real quick and then we can leave," he says, giving you a kiss on the cheek.

"The kids are getting their shoes now," you tell him.

He runs upstairs and your kids come down a few minutes later.

"Dad's gonna change and then we'll go," you tell them.

"Yay!"

Will returns ten minutes later, wearing jeans and a t-shirt instead of his maroon scrubs that you've washed countless times over the last few weeks. You grab your purse and head out to the car. The kids talk about what animals they want to see while you and Will have a silent conversation in the front seat. You arrive at the zoo and park in the lot. Will gets Sophia while you help Carter from his seat. you buy the tickets and head inside. You look at animals for a few hours before getting some food. You take pictures of your family and enjoy seeing your husband spending time with his children. Will gives you a smile and kisses your head.

"This is a long overdue day," he tells you.

"That it is," you reply.

A few hours later, the zoo is getting ready to close and you head to the gift shop so Carter and Sophia can pick something out. Carter got a stuffed lion and Sophia chose a penguin.
