Three weeks later

The team caught the man who killed your parents and you were at the funeral. Sonny offered to do the eulogy which you greatly accepted. The entire team and your castmates sat in the church, Amanda holding your hand for support. Sonny stepped up to the microphone, adjusting it a little before speaking.

"I met Y/M/N and Y/F/N through their daughter, Y/N when we were in college at NYU. (just go with it.) They told me my friendship with her brought her out of her shell. She was very shy growing up and had trouble making friends. Her parents welcomed me into their family with open arms. They attended my police academy graduation as if their own were graduating. Y/M/N made meatballs that rivaled my own mother's. Y/F/N would tell stories of his time on the force. For them to leave the world the way they did is gut-wrenching. I'm glad I could be a part of the team who put the bastard away."

He pauses to look at you with tears in his eyes.

"Y/N, your parents were some of the best people I ever had the pleasure to meet. Let this be a celebration of their lives and the good they brought into this world. Thank you."

After, Sonny pulls you into the tightest hug he's ever given you.

"Thank you for that, Sonny," you whisper in his ear.

"Anything for my best friend," he whispers back.

Two years later

It's the opening night of your new show and you're playing the female lead. At the end of the show, you take your bow and notice a familiar smirking face in the front row. When the curtain closes, you race to your dressing room to change into street clothes before running to the stage door, ignoring the shouts of your castmates. When you walk out, you see your best friend and his team.

"I didn't think you were coming," you say as you hug him.

"I knew what today was and the chief gave us the night off so we could watch," he tells you.

"Thank you, guys, for everything you've done for me. It really means a lot."
