Connor had been acting weirdly all week. He was always on the phone with someone and would end the call when you walked over. You explain your dilemma to your partner on Ambulance 61, Sylvie Brett.
"Have you guys been in a fight recently," she asks.
"No. I don't know what's going on though," you tell her as Stella joins you.
"Maybe he's planning something for your birthday next week," she suggests.
"What makes you say that," you ask her.
"Connor keeps texting Kelly about a party next week, asking if we can make it."
"Matt's been getting cryptic messages from Connor, too, now that I think about it," Sylvie adds.
"It's probably nothing," you say, shrugging as the bells go off.
You wake up on your birthday and sigh. Connor's nowhere in sight but he left a note, saying he got called in to cover a shift. You head downstairs and see a gift box on the counter with a note on it.

I'm sorry I couldn't be here to celebrate your birthday this morning. At 5:30, Sylvie and Stella will be picking you up and taking you to Molly's to celebrate with your crew. Wear the dress in this box and have an amazing time. I love you so much! Happy birthday, love.

At four, you start to get ready. Sylvie and Stella knock on your front door at 5:30 and the three of you head to Molly's where everyone is waiting. You walk in and see your boyfriend standing in front of the bar.
"I thought you said you were working," you tell him as he kisses your temple.
"I came here and got everything set up for your party. I asked Goodwin if I could have your birthday off this year."
"Thank you for this."
"Of course, baby."
"Drinks are on the house," Hermann yells.
This turned out to be the best birthday ever.
