The next morning the four of them were sent to lessons right after breakfast.

"I thought we were going to be training. Do they call this training?" Lillian leaned over and whispered to Furlan.

"You need to learn about titans first before you kill them." Their instructor said to her, walking over to where she was sitting behind the desk. Lillian sat in her chair with her legs crisscrossed in the seat. "Sit normally."

Lillian groaned as she straightened her legs. Her legs were too short, so instead her feet just dangled.

"Relax Little Lily," Furlan whispered to her. "You'll be back using your ODM gear in no time."

"I just can't stand to sit here."

"It'll go by quick."

It did not go by quick. They were only being taught for a couple hours, but that couple of hours felt like forever to Lillian. When Flagen came to grab them for their training outside Lillian had never been so happy to see him. They were split into two groups just like they had been in the carriages. Levi and Lillian were going horseback riding while Furlan and Isabel were training with the ODM gear.

"Guess you were wrong." Lillian told Furlan.

"You only have to wait till tomorrow."

"Whatever." They split apart, each going to their spots.

Lillian quickly found out that she was not a horse person. Her instructor yelled at her as if it was her fault. But it wasn't Lillian's fault that the horse only wanted to be by the other horses and kept trying to graze.

"You need to take charge! Don't let her get away with not listening to you!" Their instructor yelled at her.

Lillian wanted to cry. How could she not let the horse get away with being an asshole when it wasn't even listening to the simple commands? All the mare wanted to do was to be by Levi's horse.

"Get ahold of your horse, Lily." Levi said to her.

"What do you think I'm trying to do?"

"Failing."

Lillian gave her brother a dirty look before turning her horse around. After a couple steps she thought the horse was finally listening to her, but instead the mare took such a sharp turn that Lillian fell out of the saddle and onto the ground.

"Clearly she isn't working out for you." The instructor stood above Lillian and offered her a hand up. The black-haired girl swatted the hand away and got up on her own. "Maybe we should try a different horse."

The next horse Lillian tired was a bay gelding that was taller than the mare.

"He's certainly calmer than the mare." Lillian struggled to get on, but with the help of a leg up she made it up there. She kicked the horse gently and clicked her tongue. The horse began to walk at a lethargic speed, but at least he followed her commands. This horse didn't want to visit with the other horses, nor did it want to eat. It only wanted to listen to her commands.

"Try a trot!"

Lillian nodded her head, finally feeling comfortable to go above a walk. When she clicked her tongue again the horse began a steady trot. After being comfortable with that Lillian kissed and kicked into the horse hard. Her gelding pushed forward and began to lope, then gallop. Lillian held onto the reins and saddle for dear life.

"Lean forward! You're leaning back too much!"

Lillian did as she was told and immediately it was easier to ride. In fact, it was almost enjoyable. She let out a laugh and wondered how about five minutes ago she was on the ground and close to tears.
