"Da die Sterne nicht leuchten

Kann der Mond auf diese Stadt nicht scheinen

Schauten wir das Licht selbst an

Singen wir unter dem Sternenmeer,"

"Please tell me you aren't singing a drinking song to our daughter." Erwin's eyes looked up from the small bag he was packing.

Lillian rocked Carina in her arms as she walked around the room. She glared at her husband then put a finger to her lips before returning to sing.

"Chairs so close and room so small

You and I talk all the night long

Meagre this space but serves us so well

We comrades have stories to tell,

And it's always like that in the evening time

We drink and we sing when our fighting is done-"

"So it is a drinking song?" Erwin interrupted his wife again.

"You've never heard this song?" Lillian kissed her daughter, thinking back to her childhood. "I remember when my mother sang that song to me, then when she died Levi sang it to me."

"Levi sings?"

Lillian nodded. "He sings better than I do." To be fair unless it was a lullaby Lillian didn't sing well.

"Isabel's cousin sang that song to her before she died, and Furlan's mother sang it to him. Perhaps it's just a song from the Underground."

Erwin walked up to her and wrapped his arms around the two of them. "Will you sing the rest? I like it."

"You were just saying that you don't want me singing a bar song to our daughter."

Erwin slid a finger under her chin. "Please sing."

She smiled and opened her mouth to sing again. The more she sang the deeper in sleep her daughter fell into. Erwin smiled down at his little family.

"So ist es immer, we live under the burnt clouds

Ease our burden, long is the night

Da die Sterne nicht leuchten

We are stars and we'll beam on our town

Schauten wir das Licht selbst an

Sing with hope and the fear will be done."

"We should leave now that she's asleep." Erwin whispered. "This will be the first time we leave her, I have no idea how she'll react."

Lillian nodded sadly and carefully set her daughter down. They both grabbed their bags and walked downstairs.

Shortly after Lillian gave birth it was determined that Wall Maria was safe to inhabit again. So Lillian and Erwin moved to a house just outside of Shiganshina district (funny enough it was one of the homes that had been caved in by the Beast Titan). The house needed work, but since the Scouts' new base was in Shiganshina and Lillian didn't want to live too close to anyone else, the house was the perfect choice.
