The next morning, they all rode to the port. It was a long ride, but luckily Lillian and Erwin rode their horses in, so they weren't rattling around in the cart with everyone else.
The Cart Titan ran up to them, coming back from her reconnaissance of the port. Peick emerged from her titan, a worried look on her face. "It's the harbor. The Yeagerists beat us there. They've captured it. They must have gotten one of the trains up and running. There are tons of soldiers posted all over the port in full anti-titan gear."
There were only two of them in their group that were also in full anti-titan gear, and that was Lillian and Erwin.
"I should go in." Lillian announced.
"They won't trust you, Lily." Erwin stated.
Lillian ignored Erwin. "Do you think Floch is in charge of this?"
"Yeah, probably." Jean answered.
"Floch likes me. Let me go in."
"I was attacking Eren, he won't trust you." Erwin spoke again. "You're forgetting that it was the Yeagerists who kidnapped our children."
"That was only to keep you from transforming." Lillian thought for a moment. "Even if it was the Yeagerists who kidnapped them, I don't think Floch was behind it."
"How about we all take a moment to think about this and discuss our next steps." Hange jumped out of the cart. "No offense Erwin, but I'm on Lily's side. Floch does like her, but he could have also been behind the children's kidnapping. As long as he doesn't know that you killed the Yeagerists that were holding your children, then we might be able to convince him that she's still on their side."
"Floch is very power hungry right now, I'm not sure it's the best idea to send Lillian." Mikasa said. "But I do think she'll do the best out of any of us. She can defend herself against Floch if he decides to attack."
Without a consensus being reached everyone left their seats in the carts and geared up in their ODM gear. Hange and Magath left to watch the Yeagerists' activity below.
"I don't like you just volunteering yourself like that for something you know is dangerous." Erwin's stern voice came from behind her.
Lillian had busied herself with readjusting her chest armor, finding it to be too uncomfortable at the moment. "Someone has to, and I'm the best candidate."
"What about the children? Did you even think about them before agreeing to this?"
"Erwin." Lillian sighed. She turned back towards him. "This mission is going to be dangerous. I know that. But these "Yeagerists" are still just children in my mind. I still see them as the kids who joined the Scouts bright eyed and bushy tailed. I want to get out of this without killing any." Her gaze left his. "I've already killed enough."
It was decided that Lillian would go and try to talk to Floch. She rode in with Connie and Armin, those two were planning on getting the flying boat while Lillian distracted Floch and tried to rescue the Azumabito crew.
"Floch! Where are you?" Armin yelled from his horse. "We need the Azumabito!"
Floch appeared in one of the windows of the building. "Wait, Armin?" His confusion only grew when he saw Connie, and weirdest of all, Lillian accompanying Armin. He had heard rumors that she had helped in Shiganshina when Marley was attacking. But this was strange.
"There you are!"
"What are you yelling for? Where have you been?"
"I was following the Cart Titan! It grouped up with the Jaw! And their trying to escape by sea! We can't let them catch up with Eren! We need that flying boat airborne! Tell the Azumabito mechanics to get it ready, right now!"
