27: The Question

Titans ran rampant around them. Lillian flew off her horse and cut into a five meter's nape. A spray of warm blood drenched Lillian. It was gross, she wanted to wipe it off but there were more to kill.

An ugly eight meter was heading straight towards Erwin. Lillian's body moved faster than her mind, cutting down another titan in her path before reaching the one that was running towards her beloved. Levi however was already there. He cut it down, not giving Lillian the chance.

"That was my kill Levi!" Lillian whined. She didn't want to kill it, but she did want to protect Erwin. He was her boyfriend, not Levi's.

"Don't be so childish!" He scolded her. "Careful!"

Behind her a titan's hand reached out for her. More blood sprayed onto Lillian as Erwin flew past and cut the titan's hand that reached for his beloved. Erwin then anchored his ODM gear into the titan's back and pulled himself up, slicing the nape.

Erwin wasn't very good with ODM gear. It had been his brains that got him to commander. But seeing Lillian in harm's way made him angry. He channeled that anger into killing the beast.

"Be careful Lieutenant!" Erwin yelled to her. Lillian could tell from the tone of his voice that he was angry, but she knew it was mostly because he was worried about her.

"Yes Commander." Lillian whispered with a smirk. She couldn't help but stare at his ass as he flew past her.

Lillian deployed her ODM gear and joined in on more of the killing. With every kill Erwin could feel the truth coming closer, but for Lillian every kill was closer to her small home on the countryside. Both thought that killing more titans would get them closer to their dreams.

Once the swarm of titans had been dealt with Lillian fell to the ground, covered in titan blood. Erwin was already on the ground, kneeling, trying to catch his breath. Levi had left with his squad once he saw that Lillian would be able to finish off the titans that remained. And Erwin's squad had kept riding forward, following their commander's orders.

"Lily."

"I will say Erwin. Nice job doubling your kill count from three to six." Lillian joked. Erwin didn't respond. He still stayed kneeling on the ground, hunched over, trying to catch his breath.

"Lily." Erwin repeated.

"Hey are you ok?" Lillian walked closer to the blood covered Commander.

Erwin looked up at her and grabbed her hands. He stayed kneeling, but he propped up one of his knees, as if he was about to-

"Lillian," he paused. "I love you more than anything." A lie. "Ever since I met you that day, I loved you. I thought you were the most beautiful woman I have ever laid my eyes on. And ever since that day I never thought I would be lucky enough for you to love me back. But now you love me and I love you. Please, please marry me?"

This was certainly not how Lillian pictured how she would get proposed to. She thought there would be less blood, and a ring. But it was Erwin, and that's what mattered most.

"What a silly question to ask." Lillian jumped into his arms, knocking Erwin to the ground. She fell on top of him and began to smother his face with kisses.

"So it's a yes then?"

"Of course." Lillian leaned down and kissed him again. "But we're out in the middle of titan territory, and our horses are nowhere to be seen."
