It all felt different.

Lillian couldn't help but feel a pit drop in her stomach as her horse left the walls. They were now in uncharted territory. Before she had gotten used to the surface Lillian had considered that uncharted territory, but now that was nothing compared to this. There were no walls keeping them in, and no walls keeping the titans away. Her life was now in jeopardy. But at the same time, despite there being death at every corner, Lillian felt free.

"So pretty!" Isabel squealed from Lillian's left.

"Yeah. Not a bad view." Levi said mostly to himself.

"It's so green!" Lillian smiled, noticing all different shades of green. Furlan looked over at his girlfriend. He smiled softly at her, then looked back ahead. The more he saw the color the more he appreciated the green, but never as much as Lillian did.

"Hey! Stop gawking!" A female Scout, the same one who had arrested them, yelled at them. "You need to stay alert. There's no telling when we'll run into the titans, so we can't afford to act like tourists!"

"Ha! If a titan shows up here, we'll take it down, no problem!" Isabel said, smiling smugly.

"Shut up! That attitude will get you killed!"

"What's the matter with you?"

"You're too confident. You won't get what I mean until you've seen your first titan face to face. I can't tell you how many elite soldiers they've devoured."

Lillian looked to the Scout. From the look in her eyes, she could tell that this wasn't her first circus.

"Titan spotted! Fifteen meters!" Someone yelled, minutes after the female Scout had warned them about it.

Lillian's blood ran cold as she spotted it. In all honestly, she felt stupid for being scared. Sure it was tall and big, but it was also dumb looking. One of the titan's eyes looked to the left while the other looked to the right. Lily was positive that if she stood right in front of it, it wouldn't be able to see her. It also wore a toothy smile, and it waved its arms around as if he was a child and it was his birthday.

"Two more titans! Ten meters, both of them!" Lillian looked around to see two titans who didn't look as happy as the one straight ahead.

"Prepare to engage! Switch to ODM gear!" The commander ordered his soldiers. Three Scouts in front of them jumped off their horses and flew towards the titan. One of the Scouts flew directly into the titan's mouth, being too late to maneuver around it. Flagen got off his horse and killed the beast.

Lillian could hear her friends talking, but she couldn't figure out, nor did she care to figure out what they were saying. He died in an instant, just because he couldn't see where he was going. This is nothing like the Underground. I've seen people die, but not like this.

"Lily!" Furlan yelled to her. Lillian snapped from her thoughts and looked at him. "They're catching up!" Behind them the two other titans were right on their tails.

"Just keep riding, let us veterans deal with them!" Flagen yelled to them, he was now back on his horse. Lillian was happy to follow his orders, but a figure on a black horse made her question Flagen's orders.

"Dumbass!" Lillian yelled to Levi. She turned her horse around, and began kicking it, attempting to catch up with her brother. The last thing Lillian wanted was to be closer to those monsters, but the love and fear she had for her brother overtook the fear for herself.

"Let's help them out, Isabel!" Furlan yelled behind her. The two of them turned their horses around and ran to the titans.

As Levi got closer to the titans he jumped off his black stallion and engaged his ODM gear. Now that Lillian was closer to the beast, she could see just how tall the thing was. And instead of fighting like she had planned, her whole body froze. These things looked just like people, and yet, they weren't. All the people she had been scared of in the Underground went through her head. None of them was as tall or as hungry as these creatures.
