A/N:

Well y'all...this is it :(

For years the Smith family lived happily. It was hard of course at times, but Lillian and Erwin had lived through so much together, that the squabbles of a family became easy to deal with.

As they got older, the kids started to move out. Niklas was the first one to move out. He had heard all the stories about his parents' and uncle's time on Paradis. He wanted to be a Scout like them. Even if the Scouts weren't really a thing anymore, he still felt pride and patriotism for a place he hadn't lived in since he was a baby. So the day he moved out and went to Pardis, it was heartbreaking for them.

Niklas had lived on the Island for a year before he died. He was only twenty. It broke the whole family's hearts. Not to mention it was even worse since they didn't know Niklas' cause of death.

It especially broke Lillian, and it was the slow descent to her depression.

All of the rest of the children got married and had children. Dimitri stayed with his parents. He had started a farm and didn't want to leave. Not to mention he loved his parents, and now that they were getting older, they needed more help.

For the next twenty years, Lillian and Erwin lived happily together. There was however a certain sadness hidden behind Lillian's eyes. Like all mothers who have lost a child, she couldn't help but think about her dead son everyday even if she was mostly happy. That sadness only got worse when Erwin died. He died at the age of seventy-seven. He had gone to bed the night before and didn't wake up the next morning. Lillian had woken up to a cold body.

Levi was there for his sister as much as he could be, but she was inconsolable. The man she had risked her life for time after time, the man she had been with for fifty years was gone. When all her children heard what happened they rushed to be with their mother and each other.

For a month Lillian grieved. Then for her family's sake, she acted like everything was fine. Sure she still did have bad days where all did was miss Erwin. But for five years she mostly acted like herself.

After those five years, Lillian started to forget things. First, she asked where Erwin was. Then she was asking where her children were. When they came to visit, she was confused on how they had gotten so old and how they now had children of their own. Despite her children being everything to her, Lillian also forgot who they were. There was a time when Lillian would wake up and wonder where all the Scouts were. She would ask for Hange and Mike, and it would only break Levi's heart.

For seventeen years Lillian lived in constant confusion. She didn't know where she was, or who anyone was besides Levi. Levi was the only constant in her life. It wasn't until one morning when Lillian woke up that she finally started to make sense.

"Levi." She smiled at him, every single one of the wrinkles on her face was shown off in deep lines.

"Morning, Lily." Levi smiled back. She usually wasn't in the greatest of moods in the morning. He used his cane to walk over to her bed. He sat down with a huff. "How are you this morning?"

Lillian peered over his shoulder. "Where's Carina? I thought I heard her up."

Levi looked down at her with wide eyes. "What do you mean?"

"What do you think I mean? I want to see my daughter. Today is Erwin's birthday, correct? All of them always visit me on Erwin's birthday."

"Yeah." Levi said slowly. Ever since Erwin had died, to help their mother, the whole family would gather on Erwin's birthday to help Lillian though the hard day. At first it was just her children, their spouses, and their grandchildren. But then her grandchildren started to have children of their own. So every year, the house was packed with a lot of family.
