Lillian and Erwin went home after a couple weeks of being in Marley. Things were quickly changing in Paradis, and they were still technically fugitives, so the two of them kept a low profile. They were only here for their children.
As soon as the couple made it to the Braus' ranch, they were delighted to hear the sound of children laughing. Their children were playing outside, running around with a newly born foal. The foal's mother was watching from a distance, probably wondering what exactly these tiny humans were doing with her foal.
Dimitri watched from the sidelines. Unlike his other siblings he wasn't so easily distracted. For weeks his mind was stuck on his parents and where they were, what they were doing, and if they were safe. He would put on a smile for his siblings and the Braus family, but all he did for weeks was worry.
Dimitri heard the sound of footsteps behind him and turned around to see who it was. A bright smile spread across his freckled cheeks, and he ran towards them.
"Mom! Dad!" Dimitri flung himself into his parent's arms. The other children heard Dimitri and turned to see the commotion. All the children stood with shocked looks on their faces before they ran towards their parents. They all ducked under the fence, then like Dimitri tackled their parents.
"Mama! Daddy!" The children cried. Lillian and Erwin smothered their children's faces with kisses. There were tears all around.
"Mr. and Mrs. Smith!" Lisa called to them once their nice moment with their children were over. Lillian kissed her children once more before she walked over to Sasha's mother.
"Mrs. Braus." Lillian greeted her with a smile. In the older woman's arms was her youngest son. Lillian took him from her arms and littered his face with kisses. The baby giggled and placed a sloppy kiss on his mother's cheek.
Erwin walked up behind Lillian and ran the back of his finger down his son's cheek. "Thank you for watching over the children."
"It was nothing compared to what the two of you went through. Are you all going home now?"
Lillian and Erwin shared a look. "Yeah we are."
Year 862
"We're back!" Erwin announced, walking through their home's front door. Mike, Kenny, and Niklas were all following behind their father.
"Take your shoes and jackets off before you get off the rug! I just washed the floors!" Lillian yelled back.
"Yes, Mrs. Smith." Erwin hummed with a smirk on his face. Lillian rolled her eyes.
"Did you guys see anything?" Lillian rejusted her youngest child in her arms.
"No," Mike sighed. "All we saw were squirrels."
"I like squirrel." Zoe, the child in Lillian's arms said.
"No, you don't." Lillian set her daughter down.
Erwin walked over to his wife and wrapped an arm around his wife's waist. He leaned down and pulled her into a slow but equally passionate kiss.
"Ew!" The children all said in unison. Lillian rolled her eyes and turned back to the meal she was cooking.
"You boys were out for a while, I'm guessing you're hungry?"
Mike, Kenny, and Niklas all rushed to sit down at the table. A fifteen-year-old Dimitri was already at the table, drawing. Even though he was older now, he still drew at any chance he got.
"Is Carina still sleeping?" Erwin asked. He snuck behind Lillian and grabbed one of the carrots she was cutting up for the stew.
"Yes. She woke up for a couple minutes. She drank some water, but she still doesn't feel very good."
"I'm going to wake her up, she should eat something." Erwin walked off in the direction of his oldest daughter's room.
Lillian smiled. Before Miche, Kenny, and Niklas had been Erwin's hunting buddies, Carina was his hunting buddy first. Dimitri was never too into hunting, he would rather draw, or if it was nice enough outside he would go outside and work in the garden. But Carina wasn't feeling good today, so Erwin went out hunting with only his sons.
"Hey mom!" Marlon, her son yelled for her. "When is lunch?"
"Soon!" Lillian yelled back.
"Don't yell across the house!" Levi huffed as he threw the newspaper down. "Can't I get a moment of peace?"
"Levi." Lillian scooped the first bowl of stew for Levi and set it in his lap with a napkin. "Our lives were chaotic already, and when we adopted Marlon and Maebel I told you it was only going to get worse. If you want to live somewhere else, then I'm more than happy to help."
"No," Levi sighed. "It's fine." He would never say this, but Lillian knew that Levi secretly loved the chaos.
"Lunch time?" Maebel asked, sitting down at the table. Her brother, Marlon took a seat next to her.
About a year after the Battle of Heaven and Earth, Erwin and Lillian adopted another two children. They were brother and sister, only a year apart, and Maebel was the same age as Niklas. Then three years ago, Lillian gave birth to their last child, Zoe.
Carina and Erwin walked into the room. Carina was still clearly sick, as soon as she sat down she laid her head down on the table.
"Erwin." Lillian sighed. "I told you not to wake her." She put both of her hands on her daughter's shoulders and kissed the top of her head. "Are you hungry?" She asked her daughter.
"Yeah, I kinda am."
"Ok." Lillian passed out the bowls of stew. Every time they went hunting Erwin and the children always begged for this hunting stew, saying it "helped their luck".
They all sat down at the long table, and ate their stew while making conversation.
After the Battle of Heaven and Earth, Erwin and Lillian decided that they didn't want to live on Paradis Island anymore. So they moved to Marley. Just outside of one of the towns. There was plenty of land around them, separating them from others. It was nice. Gabi and Falco lived in town, but visited a lot. The port wasn't too far away, so if they ever did want to visit Paradis it was easy. Queen Historia had forgiven them of all their "crimes" so it was safe for them to visit.
A couple years after the battle, Erwin, Lillian, and Levi all went to visit Eren's grave with Jean, Mikasa, Armin, and Connie. Annie and Pieck had also apparently moved to the island.
"Mikasa." Lillian greeted the woman sitting next to the small grave under the tree. Her hair was long now and pulled into a ponytail. She still wore that red scarf.
"Lillian." Mikasa smiled. "Thank you for coming."
"When are you going to wash that thing?" Levi asked.
Lillian walked past Levi and sat down next to Mikasa. "It's a nice day today, huh?"
"It's as nice as it can be." Armin smiled, looking up at the sky.
"I don't know, looks like it's going to rain later." Connie stood with his hands in his pockets. He had grown out his buzzcut, now he had a scalp full of fluffy gray hair.
"If it's going to rain then we should head out soon." Jean said.
Lillian looked over to Mikasa. She hugged her knees close to her chest and looked at Eren's small gravestone. She clearly didn't want to leave yet.
"We should stay for a while longer." Lillian spoke up for Mikasa.
