⚠️TW! "Slut-shaming" (not really, but some words associated with it used) ⚠️
We were now back where we were before; in front of the entrance to the player room from the main parts of the facility. I knew that I would be yelled at, accused, insulted, etc, within the next few minutes, so I tried to steady myself because I know I'm not always the best at taking criticisms. I'm also not the best at handling things on the spot under pressure.
"So just to be clear, when we go in there, we're going to show them how much money is at stake after their tantrum and possibly let them vote on staying should somebody recall the third clause of the contact?" I asked both the manager and Front Man.
"Yes, Ms. Host. I will take over shall you get overwhelmed. It is your first experience, after all," the manager replied. I nodded.
I looked behind me at all the soldiers. There were 6 directly behind us and another 6 behind them. It was a window-like thing with the first and second row where the next row of people would be in the spaces that those in front of them left. I smiled at them under the mask and looked ahead of me. The noise made when opening the door sounded, and we all started walking forward onto the platform in front of us. Everybody, like my game, was sitting down when we came in except for a few people that were standing or laying in their beds and socializing. All players' attentions were drawn when we walked out, and they all scrambled up to stand cautiously.
I looked at everybody in the back of the room and joined my hands behind my back loosely. I masked all my negative emotions with happiness and smiled.
"Congratulations to all. Every player here has completed the first game. We are very happy for you to be moving on to the next round," I stated. "The results of the game will now be announced."
The screen above us let out a few light chimes before the numbers dropped quickly. I looked back towards it. There was a lower sound that was fuller than the rest, which meant that the hundreds place went down to 4. The same sound rang out twice after the first, and soon after the last, all other noises stopped. This signaled that the counting was done, and the last number on screen was "207". I did the math in my head. 568-207= 361 players eliminated. Good god.
"Out of 568 players, 361 were eliminated. 207 players made it past the first game."
I stared at everybody, just waiting to see the first person that would break the silence and demand or plead to let them go home. Nobody did for a good bit, and I pursed my lips in suspense.
There was then a man that appeared after pushing through the first row. Player 492. He was of medium size and had medium length light brown hair. He snarled at us and pointed his finger in my direction. I didn't expect this, so I raised my eyebrows and looked at him to see what he was going to do.
He made his way toward us quickly and reached about 10 feet away. His chest was heaving because he was breathing in angrily and practically fuming.
"You son...daughter... of a bitch," he spat. "You killed all those people out there! You should be ashamed of yourself. Holding us hostage and forcing us to indulge in your sick fantasies?! You must have had a traumatic childhood to do all of these disgusting things to us involving children's games as adults!"
I'm mostly sad to admit it, but his words did not leave me unaffected. I was already feeling bad about everything that happened, not like they would know, and now I had this guy calling me out for it. I didn't exactly know how to handle it. Unfortunately, he wasn't finished.
"I'm sure the police will find us soon! You're not going to get away with this, you fucking whore! People that all of us talked with before this started are dead and at the bottom of whatever your sick minds created for your own entertainment! You're an animal and a monster! They're dead by YOUR hand!" He screamed.
