CHAPTER 17: RESISTANCE

Dim orange lightning was on in the living room, with the curved 100" screen from the TV illuminating the place clearly. Isaac and Gavin were watching a movie from some time ago, which Gavin chose due to its 'terrifying but significantly powerful cover', as he said himself. Isaac never saw that movie before so he agreed in watching it. The cover caught his attention as well.

They were sitting next to each other in a considerable distance while a bowl of chips stood between them, and their attention was totally focused into a scene where blood flew everywhere and the drips seemed to touch their faces as the man butchered vertically a body with a saw. Gavin wasn't scared by it, but the detailing and sounds were clearly agonizing his ears, making it uncomfortable to listen.

Isaac also felt that agony when the scene had these cutting sounds, but he didn't feel fear from watching it. Both boys had faced a demon with their own eyes so that movie was like watching a kids cartoon early in the morning. "I like this clown's characterization." Gavin commented and grabbed a chip from the bowl.

"Yeah, I do think it is horrific but does not transmits fear. At least not to me." Isaac said back.

"Oh damn he's so brave." Gavin joked, smiling after. Isaac just rolled his eyes and pretended he didn't hear anything.

"I miss the times when you did not talk a thing."

"I miss the times when you weren't such an ass... wait! That time never happened."

"Stop talking and watch the damn movie." He said last before going quiet. Some minutes after it, Isaac eyes got white when he suddenly turned the Lenses on after hearing a notification pulse. "My mother sent us something." He was moving his hands and touching the air like he was seeing a screen, and he was, but it was available for his eyes only. "Go grab my PAD over my bedroom. It is in my bed." Gavin got up and went further in the hallway to grab the device Isaac requested. When he came back with the PAD in hands, he sat next to Isaac and their shoulders brushed. Isaac turned his Lenses off and grabbed the device off Gavin's hands to increase its size so both could see the interface clearly.

The transparent device showed one folder with thousands of other folders inside of it. When Isaac opened the file his mother sent, he saw that fortunately all the folders had specific names of the contents inside it. "There is some interesting stuff in here." Isaac said, fixing the position of the PAD, letting it a bit curve so he could hold it better with one hand. "My mother literally sent us every single project Ella Drew has ever done."

"But what about our project?" Gavin asked, getting even closer to Isaac so he could see the files names as well.

"Nothing obvious like bullets or monsters. We will open and check one by one."

"Yeah. Save this movie for another time." Gavin paused the movie. Isaac suggested later that he could search in Lola's room for her PAD, so their goal could be achieved faster. He went there to see the bedroom completely organized and smelling like the perfume she usually wears. A purple fluffy rug found his toes while walking around the room alongside with the bedsheets which were also purple. The panoramic view of the sea in this room was turned off, instead the screen showed an image of the city, like it was a window, just like it is at the gym. Gavin missed seeing the bioluminescent fishes swimming around so he turned the panoramic view on, even though he was not staying in this room for more than 10 minutes.

He went to look over a desk with some papers on top of it, accompanied by Lola's computer and some history digital books. Up there, her PAD stood in a 10 centimeter square. He didn't know how to increase the size so he took it to Isaac that way, and the other boy increased the size to be like his own. "That password... Lola is so predictable." He commented while typing the password. Next, he sent the files to the PAD original private channel, not the other channel that has Lola's data and information attached.
