CHAPTER 7: AWARE OF THE UNKNOWN

Lola was laying down on the couch reading something online in her PAD while Cameron and Gavin kept beating sticks against each other. It has been some good minutes since they started and none of them seemed or showed any sign of tiredness. "How is Gavin doing?" She asked Isaac while spotting some hot celeb gossip on a post. Isaac had his arms crossed and stood on his feet, watching Gavin's moves precisely.

"He is doing good. Too good actually." His voice sounded low. "Cameron did not hit him one single time yet and you know how skilled he is."

"Oh, that's awesome!" Lola got up and folded her PAD back into a little square. She stood aside from Isaac and watched the boys with him. "That means we won't waste too much time on training and will have more time to focus on other stuff."

"You are not intrigued to know why he fights like that? Did not he just said he cannot remember a single thing about his past?" Isaac said and Lola's expression darkened. She was getting tired of him trying to make Gavin look like a bad person.

"Believe me when I say I want to know every single thing about his past, but can you please stop being so obnoxious? Seriously, Isaac. I honestly think you should let your guard down immediately because your defensive way to act is really irritating me." She confidently stated, no longer looking at the boys but exclusively at Isaac's face.

"It is my responsibility to protect us." He took a deep breath, closed his eyes for some seconds before talking again. Lola had convinced about the state of his actions. "Gavin could be anything. From a well-skilled military to a very well-skilled assassin, have you thought about that Mrs. Pyotr?"

"Isaac, look at his face. Do you really think he could kill somebody looking like a lost animal in the woods?"

"To me he looks like a giant arthropod in the woods. What you do not understand is that we are dealing with a new version of Gavin. That right there is not the same person from a week ago, and we do not know who he was a week ago."

"For my Liberator's pure spirit! We're talking about Chemeris' son, not about that fucking parasite he has as an uncle. Just go easy on him. You two could definitely get right if you stop pushing his buttons on purpose for your own fun, and don't even try to deny it 'cause I know you do this since school time."

"What?" I was not doing it for fun." He couldn't hold back a smile as he tried to sound really offended and innocent. "Those times were good."

"Yes, it was. Speaking of things that got in the past, how is Blanca doing? I saw some things on the Verse these days. Her posts seemed kind of sad."

"And I am supposed to know because...?" Blanca has caused some headaches over Isaac in the past years after school. They even got into a relationship for some time but didn't work well since Isaac never had free time.

"Because I know you had sex with her last week." Lola giggled and then made a disgusted face after thinking about Isaac and Bianca having sex. "Ew. I admire your courage."

"Stop talking about this."

"Hey, guys. We're gonna go for a break right now." Cameron came to talk to them with Gavin by his side. He was completely covered in sweat while Gavin didn't even have his breath altered. "I gotta admit that Gavin is an amazing fighter. I didn't beat him not even once!" Cameron was astonished by it and his voice denounced it very well and loud.

"I mean, it's so weird. My hands just moved. I didn't have any idea that I could do those kinds of things with ease." Gavin said, looking at his red palms after holding the stick with all force. "You were letting me win, weren't you?"

"Look at all this sweat and your answer will be given." Lola, Gavin, and Cameron laughed. "Imma go take a bath, do you guys plan on a stay over or you're leaving? You can totally stay if you want to."
