"And I didn't tell you the best yet!" The boys were in the way to level -7 and Gavin was sharing other news with Isaac. His mouth didn't stop talking and the Bethervan boy didn't say a thing, just listened to what his lover had to expose. "Zarkobretch invited us to a dinner at his house next week and I said we were going. Do you want to go? Otherwise I tell him you are staying home." Gavin stood in front of the retina and facial reader that would give him access to a separated elevator, specifically positioned so only allowed people would reach certain floors of the Base. Curiously, the day when Isaac found it, all the locked doors were unlocked, and that shouldn't happen by any means. The system read the boy's eyes and liberated the metallic doors. The couple got inside, excluding the presence of Gavin's security or other soldiers. He pressed the -7 button. "Oh, your parents are going too. Forgot to mention."
"Will not you shut your mouth for a moment, Gavin? I do not remember what you said on your first line." Isaac said, but Gavin could tell he was joking. The small boy elbowed him weakly on his rib and Isaac chuckled. "I am going with you. I like Zarkobretch. He is a good man."
"Right? Not a lot of people inside this world of politics and corporations shows the sensitivity Zarkobretch shows to me... I feel like he is a friend. Is it weird to have a friend that is 67 years older than me?"
"Unusual, but not weird. It is good for you to have people like him by your side." The doors were open and now Isaac was leading him to the room. The bright white corridors were just as empty as it was the other day. "He is smart. He and his company achieved unimaginable things about the black horizons-" Isaac was interrupted by an angry howl coming from the farthest door in the hallway. It was it. The boys exchanged quick looks before proceeding further in the corridor. "Stay behind me." Isaac said before pulling out his tactical silver pistol with pointy and glassy bullets. Gavin did as he said, even though he was not afraid of the monster anymore. He survived the Cube, he survived Kyedoth, but he was letting his man protect him.
Isaac entered the room first, being steady and pointing the gun to his front area. The monster didn't do any noises, but when Gavin came in, it started screaming again, louder and louder, feeling more agonizing than before. When Isaac saw that it was still trapped inside the capsule, he put his weapon back on his belt and both boys walked side by side, slowly reaching its location in the room.
The dark shadowed creature was in evident fear as it saw the image of Gavin. It was clearly glancing at him as its vocals were thrown in the air. Gavin wondered what could cause that reaction, because in the beginning, the monsters were the ones to be afraid of and not the contrary. Gavin didn't mind the screams. He walked to the front of the capsule, until their faces were only a frame of glass away in distance. "I know this one." Gavin said after quickly analyzing the face of the creature. "I know why it screams."
Isaac reached Gavin's position. "Explain then. If it is possible, make it stop screaming." The Bethervan crossed his arms.
"Look at the left eye, specifically at the right edge of it." Gavin pointed with his finger and Isaac followed. They were seeing a portion of the total red orb that was not red. It was roundly pierced, getting to the other side of the head. "Do you remember the day we fought with them in the research camp?" Gavin turned his head to directly glance at his lover. "We faced two monsters separately. Mine got away after I shot it in the eye, then I ran to help you on the other side of the hallways. Now, do you remember the reaction of the monster we killed on the rooftop once I started shooting his head nonstop?" Isaac nodded positively. "Radiation causes an insane reaction in their minds. We knew that already but I didn't know it was so strong. I think it is afraid of me." Gavin closed his fist and punched the capsule, making the creature scream and try to go away from him. He smiled. "That is interesting."
