Isaac went to the left side as he reached the staircase, searching for Gavin fiercely. He found a wide meeting room on this side, which previously had tables and tables all around, now with the mess, it was almost an open space. He passed by the remaining pieces of furniture trying to find his partner in crime, and he did. Gavin was knelt behind a desk, looking at a dead body on the floor. When Isaac looked around, he visualized a lot of bodies, almost twenty as he quickly counted, and they were all in the same position: sitting on the floor with their backs touching the windows.
Isaac slowly approached him and knelt down on his side. "Why did not you answered me?"
"These people weren't killed by the monster. They killed themselves." Gavin said as both visualized the knife on the floor and the cuts on writs and necks of all the people. Blood were dry in their bodies, clothes and floor, but they did not have more wounds than those already mentioned. The creature only cares about kill, not about what is already lifeless. "They rather kill themselves than be killed by the monster."
Isaac got up. "Let's go to the next floor."
"This ends tonight, right Isaac?" Gavin got up too, looking at the boy in front of him. They couldn't see their faces, so Gavin touched Isaac's arm to make at least one physical contact with him.
"Yes. We will leave this place victorious today."
"Alright, let's go up. Just 58 floors remaining."
Gavin released the hold on Isaac, who lead the way to the stairs once again. They climbed the floors and checked each one of them precisely, but all of them were following the same pattern: dead bodies, no light, a huge mess and no monster to be seen. They were on the way to the 30th floor when the sonic airplanes could be heard passing by there again. The boys ran to the closest window to check what was happening, but their vision was a bit compromised since the planes were higher than them. The flying vehicles were just bringing soldiers directly at the roof so they wouldn't have to climb 60 floors like some idiots would do.
After that, some shots were heard in the floors above them, and it did not stop any time soon. Two bodies were falling in front of them after a window breaking sound was heard. Isaac motioned for them to get back to the stairs and they ran, jumping steps to reach it quicker. After more ten floors, the shooting sound got louder, signaling they were close to the action in the building. Right in front of them, in the 40th floor, their target stood in the middle of the room attacking the air, dodging things Isaac and Gavin couldn't see. That was when they realized the demon was facing soldiers with the same armor as theirs, being invisible in front of him. The creature was quick at dodging the bullets, even more those simple bullets which would do it no harm at all.
Isaac and Gavin stood still watching the creature fight with the soldiers. As it damaged their armor, the invisibility was off and their bodies slowly could be seen, dead and bleeding on the floor and being thrown out of the buildign as the creature strongly thrusted their bodies past the windows. The armor was good and resistant, but it was not made to resist a monster like that one. Isaac took advantage of it being busy with his current prey, and aimed at the floor where it stood nearby. This shot was not supposed to kill, just to stun it for a while.
As the shot was taken and high radiation was liberated into the atmosphere, the creature got out of itself, screaming and quickly moving away, trying to escape the reach of the radiation. Gavin fired a shot just like Isaac's, making it scream louder, but in the end, it broke the ceiling and got up flying to the next floor. They heard several breaking sounds as they ran on the stairs, trying to accompany its fast pace. It seemed like the monster was going to the roof, where the airplanes and helicopters from the TV stood, filming everything.
