CHAPTER 81: WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

The corridors of the new State Union were busy just like any other day, now even more with the substitution process taking place over the institution. Several people were voted on so they could administrate the process and select the candidates for the available positions, and Angelina Bethervan received unanimous votes to be inside that committee. Gavin had chosen her previously to lead the functioning of the entire act, but after that panel was formed, they also wanted her taking decisions with them. So there she was, analyzing thousands of different professional profiles and background datas to assign them a role, or dismiss them from the selection process.

Angelina was walking in the bright white corridor while reading something in her giant PAD when her moment of attention was interrupted by a tall man who bumped into her on purpose. He wore a neutral formal attire, proper to attend the environment of the State Union. Angelina rose her head to see who it was and she did not expect to see those white drawings in front of her that day. The black skinned man had white emblems painted in his skin, following curvilinear lines and shapes. It was all discreet and in minimal patterns, but the beauty in it was insanely huge. Angelina smiled when she recognized the man. It was the one and only Zarkobretch Thrydalliv, the Director of BHDM, or the Black Horizons Discoveries and Management. "Zarko?" She said with excitement. "How are you doing, my dear?" She quickly hugged the man. Thrydalliv was one of Angelina's old friends. She was very much popular during school and college days, but after graduating and forming a family, she got away from most of them.

"The woman of the century!" He replied in the same joy as Angelina. They split from the hug. "I am doing great, Angie - but how about you? I am aware of what you have been doing for the past months. I have to congratulate you and also say how impressed I am."

"Oh, things have been insane, however, it got us to a better place. What brings you to the Union? Did something happen with the main facility of the Horizons?"

"No. Everything is fine down at Versital Propek. Actually, I flew all the way from there to have a meeting with our highness himself!" He said in a joke tone. "Mr. President did not mention his motivations behind the meeting but if he calls we cannot deny, right?"

"First of all, do not call him highness, Zarko. He will hate you to death."

"And of course you know him very well since he is your son from the sun, right? I always knew you were meant to be in positions of class and sophistication, Angie."

"My son could not have chosen a better partner for life." She said. "Do you want me to accompany to the Dome Office? I know he has been there since early in the morning."

"Of course, Angie. I am running late, actually." They started walking forward, entering a five minute quick walk to the Dome Office, the place where Gavin was located.

"Don't need to worry. Our new President is the calmest person you will ever meet. He is only 22. He does not have things to be stressed about like the old corpses like us."

Zarkobretch laughed at her phrase. "I can imagine, but I wonder what brought me here. Do you have anything to tell me, Angelina?"

"I had no idea you were coming over, Zarko. We usually talk about work and things related but recently everyone is so busy that we don't have the time. Oh, how is Sénya doing? And the kids?"

"Sénya is preparing to go for the first time to the Victus Horizon Station. She is a pile of nerves all the time and the kids are just driving us insane as usual, nothing new." They laughed at the memory of Zarko's children. Angelina met them once and it was clear as crystal that those kids gave Zarko and Sénya a lot of work. "And Benjamin? Is he still working out here or he is being cut out too?"
