Hiding

Rubbing my eyes I dragged myself out of bed. It was going to be a long day at school. I wish it was summer already so I wouldn't have to wake up so early. Walking down the hall I heard my mom on the phone talking in the kitchen. I stopped in my tracks ease dropping on her. I mentally face palmed myself. I'm be coming more like Courtney spying on my mom.

I could hear the worry in her voice, "I'm fine I justqw don't know how to tell Michelle". I couldn't hear what the other person was saying but what did she not know how to tell me. We talk about everything what's so difficult for her to tell me I don't understand. I walked into the kitchen she quickly ended the conversation hanging up the phone. I smiled at her and sat at the table. She looked a little caught off guard, "Morning mom how's everything going".

I hoping I could pry it out of her. She looked around nervously, "Great you want some breakfast Michelle". Mom was a hard nut to crack but I was going to get it out of her. I nodded watching her get the eggs out the refrigerator, "Mom you love me" I said. The mom you love me card is always a good deal breaker.

Cracking the eggs in a bowl she said, "Of course Michelle I love you". I looked down at my hands what was she hiding from me. Me and her never kept secrets we told each other everything. No matter how good or bad it was that just the kind of bond we had. She turned around facing me, "What kind of question is that Michelle". I had to think of something quick I had zoned out. I gave her a big smile, "I just wanted to make sure". She chuckled and turned back around, "I'll be home late today from work".

Dang she wasn't talking I didn't want to drop any hints that I heard anything. I sighed, "It's ok I still have to finish my make up work for all my classes anyway". She stirred the eggs in the bowl, "Michelle I need you to do me a favor". I perked up, "Anything mom". I wonder if she was going to tell me. She asked me to do her a favor so mostly likely she's not.

"After school I don't want anyone over here I want you to stay home". I groaned, "Really that's it mom that's all". She scrapped the fluffy eggs onto a plate, "Yes that's all what you want there to be more ??". I sighed heavily leaning back in the chair disappointed, "No I was just saying but ok will do mom". She sat the plate of eggs in front of me leaning down kissing me on the forehead, "Good girl have a good day at school Michelle". She grabbed her purse heading out the door. I got up grabbing a fork stitting back down I stabbed the fluffy yellow eggs shoving them into my mouth. I never thought she would keep a secret from me. I ate my eggs walking back to my room to get dress. Steven called me I answered the phone while searching my closet for something to wear. He said, "Hey babe you going to school today". I rolled my eyes at him, "Duhh I'm going to school". He sucked his teeth at me, "Little girl I'm just asking". I laughed, "I swear I can't deal with you". "Can I come over today after school", he said.

I put the phone on speaker while I searched for a blouse to wear with my jean capris. "I can't have people over today but I'll come over to your house" I held up a blue shirt with the capris.

He said, "Ight well meet me at my house after school will chill there".
I hung up the phone I found the perfect shirt to wear. A purple ruffled top with my blue Capris and beige strappy sandals.

I threw my hair up into a bun putting on my black head band. I didn't feel like wearing any jewelry today. I grabbed my bag and keys walking out the door locking it. I walked to my car driving straight to Courtney's house.
I pulled up outside and blew the horn she came outside. She got in the car tossing her bag in the back seat. "Chelle girl we going to the beach this weekend".

I smiled and started to drive off, "You and your mom". "Yes girl I'm so excited I need a V-A-Cation", I rolled my eyes at her. We pulled up at the school I listened to her go on and on about needing a vacation and that she's tired if school. I parked and got out the car grabbing my bag, "I'll meet you after class I gotta go talk to one of my teachers".

She nodded walking towards the cafeteria. I walked through the empty halls towards too class. Braxton came out the boys bathroom he looked up and saw me then he smiled m. He walked over to me, "Where are you going Ms.Davis??". I smiled at him, "I needed to check up on some school related things". He walked beside me, "Michelle you look really pretty today". I couldn't stop myself from smiling, "Aww your so sweet thank you". I was so glad things weren't weird between us after I told him my huge secret. Soon it wouldn't be a secret from anybody. He looked down at me, "I just wanted you to know that no matter what I'll always be here for you".

The bell had rang people crowded the hallways. I nodded, "I'll see you later Braxton". He walked away but he looked back and winked at me. I laughed and went down the hall to class.I was ready to turn in all these packets I was up until late last night finishing them up. I got to class early as always turning in all my packets on time. Surprisingly we had a substitute the class was going to act crazy I knew it. Even in high school people still can't maintain a decent amount of maturity. The rest of my classes went by with a breeze. Steven didn't show up for none of his classes, I asked his friends if they knew where he was they didn't. I was disappointed I was looking forward to seeing him. I called his phone just before lunch three times it kept going to voice mail. I sighed heavily someone tapped me on my shoulder I turned around. Braxton stood there, "Looking for someone". I smiled, "Actually I am have you seen Steven anytime today".

He shook his head looking around, "No not at all but if I do I'll let you know". I thanked him walking away to find Courtney. I couldn't find her anywhere either, where in the hell where these two.
