"Michelle are you okay" she held my hand looking me in the eyes. I nodded,"I'm fine Court I guess I just don't know anymore." She let go of my hands sitting back in the booth.

"This is not like you or your momma what's going on with y'all", I sighed rubbing my temples.

"She made me so angry all the crap we've been through" Courtney sighed, "Doesn't mean you gotta do your momma like that Michelle ! You've never stepped out of character like this." She was right its like we both changed and I cant take back what I did and said. Our close relationship is completely trashed I don't think I can have the same respect for her as before.

"Whatever Michelle that's you honor thou mother and thou father and thou days shall be long girl its all go fall on you in the end not her." My bestfriend was speaking the truth and right now I dint want to hear it but had no choice. Aliyah started whining Courtney got up taking her in the bathroom to be changed. "What am I going to do" I was lost and overwhelmed mentally, emotionally my phone buzzed I picked it up. It was Steven he wanted to talk and said to meet him outside of my house.

Courtney came back with Aliyah I smiled,"I'm-" She cut me off,"I know what your about to say." Well can I at least explain. She sat Aliyah back in the booster chair,"Steven either called or texted saying he wanted to see your or some other crazy shit." I blinked,"Well there's no need to explain where I'm going can you keep Aliyah for me just for two hours."

"No need to ask she's my niece and why two hours what yall go do fuc-" I closed my ears. "No we aren't going to do none of that at all again he knows." She rolled her eyes standing up picking up the check,"Ill pay." She shrugged,"Don't let him trip you up again." I nodded swallowing the lump in my  throat,"Why you say that we haven't you know."

"As your best friend and sister I'm just giving you some advice that's all", I left the money and a five dollar tip grabbing Aliyah bag walking out the restaurant. I made my way home I seen Steven's car outside ain't no way in hell he went inside so I knew he had to be in his car. I parked beside him getting out he got out nodding his head for me to get in. I got in,"What did you want to talk about." He pulled my face closer to his pressing his lips hard against mine.

"I just wanted to see you" I smiled "Where's my daughter?" I was in love but then again there was something we still had to work out. "Courtney is keeping her for two hours for me" he nodded sitting back in his seat. "This is the end of us or what?" Truth is I didn't want it to be,"I don't know I'm confused." He put his hand on my thigh,"I'm here for you baby girl don't be everything's going to work out I promise no matter what."

He left and I went back to pick up Aliyah then we went back home. When I went in the house I saw mom sitting on the couch with a half empty bottle of scotch. I went and put Aliyah down then to check on her. "Momma" she just sat there staring at the tv it was on the cooking channel she hated the cooking channel. I walked in front of her she didn't blink just started ahead,"Momma." I sat next down taking the bottle from her sitting it on the coffee table,"Momma."

"I don't even go to church anymore ever since I beat cancer I figured it was my time to live really live and stop stressing." I didn't say anything I just sat there listening this was the first time she's ever really sat down with me and we talked in so long. "I didn't even think about how that would effect your or my grandbaby Aliyah." A few tear dripped down her face I wiped her face,"I seen your father and thought we'd get back together I was just so caught in the moment I didn't think its like I felt young again we were like before."

I didn't know I felt like a horrible daughter cursing at my mother and being disobedient. "I'm sorry momma for being a pain and acting like a spoiled brat" She ran her thumb across my cheek and smiled. "Your only acting your age me there no excuse." We sat in silence for a moment respect was a big thing in  my family I guess we both threw it out the window. She pulled me into a tight hug,"Im sorry Michelle for laying the news on you about your father like I did."

Tears slid down my cheeks I felt the entire world lift off my shoulders,"I love you momma."

"I love you to baby" I don't know how longs its ben since I've heard my mothers genuine and soft tone. All I've been getting was yelled at we ended the hug I told her I would fix dinner tonight. I felt a little better about the whole situation since we had this talk. I hope we can go back ti the way it used to be but I often got my hope a little too high in certain situations.

After cooking dinner bake chicken, yellow rice and mixed vegtables I started getting ready for bed after bathing Aliyah and putting her to bed.
