I love you
You don't even understand these words yet, let alone the depth, yet still I say it.
Shout it into the void
Write these words as a promise to both of us
I.
Love.
You.
I have known your name since I was 15.
I stole it from a character in a book.
It means from the beginning to the end and back again.
That is your name.
And that is how far my love will reach.
From one moment to another.
From one infinity until another.
That is what you mean to me that is how I have sworn to love you.
Though you don't exist yet.
I love you.
Though I haven't met your father.
Though my mind is a battlefield.
Though I have never felt your touch, heard your cry, nor seen your eyes.
I love you.
And I will.
No matter who you love.
What you believe.
Who you become
Nor what you do
I vow to love you unconditionally and faithfully from this life until the next.
In this way I never known
You who have never drawn breath
You who wait for us to meet
You
Perfect little you
Know that I love you
Know I will teach you and protect you
I will rage for you and read to you and hold you when you cry
You
Who I don't even know yet
Without a face and form clinging to the Father
You
Perhaps I will read this to you one day if we make it that far.
I just wanted you to know that even when we do battle
That even when you hate me
I prayed for you
I wanted you
And I love you always.
