Ayanokoji POV:

The moment I saw who I was supposedly meeting with, I'd decided to text Shizukana.

I figured it would be a good idea to.

Not to mention, this was not someone I had any intention of humouring, I figured Shizukana could help get me out of this uncomfortable situation.

A man in his 40's who was sitting down in the room spoke up after the Headmaster and my teacher had left.

"How about you sit down. I'm meeting up with you of my own accord after all."

It's been one yea- no, one and a half years since I've heard this man's voice.

His way of speaking and tone hasn't changed at all.

Not that that was something I expected anyways.

"I'm not planning on holding a long conversation that requires me to sit down. I plan on meeting some friends later."

"Friends? Don't make me laugh, you are incapable of such a thing."

He hasn't yet seen how I live, and still judges his statement to be true.

Believing he is absolutely right, that's typical of him.

"It seems that for the first time, I can enjoy the pleasure of knowing you are wrong."

He narrowed his eyes.

He came to the realization himself that I was not lying.

"There's no need to talk about such things. I'm also busy and just got some time in-between to come after all."

He didn't pay my words anymore attention than necessary, continuing with his own topic.

"Whatever you seek to gain by coming here, you won't receive it."

He continued regardless.

"I have prepared the papers for you to drop out. I was talking about it with the headmaster earlier. You just have to say 'yes' then we can be done with it."

"I see no reason why I should."

"That may be so for you, but I have reasons of my own."

He looked at me for the first time.

The sharp glance hasn't withered, in fact, it has seemingly increased with his age.

Pupils like sharpened blade edges, like he could see through anything down to the core. Many people have probably felt assaulted by them.

I took them right on.

"You mean to say a parent would demolish their own child's wishes for their own accord?"

"Parent you say? You have never recognized me as a parent."

"Indeed."

From the interactions I'd seen of them, even Shizukana had a better relationship with his father, as toxic as it was most of the time.

Whereas for us, we recognize each other as father and son on paper only. It doesn't matter to us if there's a blood relation or not.

"The point is, you were acting on your own accord. I ordered you to remain on standby."

He didn't seem to care about the fact I'd yet to sit down, despite this conversation beginning to grow longer.

"You defied my orders and entered this school. I'm ordering you to drop out immediately."

"Your orders were only valid inside of the White Room. I don't need to listen to them anymore."

It was simple logic, but of course he wouldn't be satisfied with that.
